Should we let Fosters be the "groomsdog" at our wedding?

So Colin and I had yet another talk about this and i think now we're really considering it
Last week when I was flipping through a bridal magazine- he saw a section in there about dogs being a part of a wedding and just thought that was the best idea ever. I would actually Love to have our Australian Shepherd, Fosters be in our wedding. I wouldn't let Whiskey because he's too nervous and it would scare him. But i'm starting to think that Fosters might actually do really well. Of course we'll make sure he's got his sit/stay command down to a T before hand and he would have someone in charge of him and be on a lead at all times. (that way if he gets too excited he can be quietly escorted out.) He's not a barker at all so that shouldn't be an issue.

I told my friends at the shelter about the idea yesterday when I was at work and they all thought it would be adorable (they all love fosters). So maybe it could work. What do you think guys....should I leave him out of the wedding or include him. Everyone that knows us knows what huge animals lovers we are and they ALL know Fosters. Nobody that is attending is allergic to dogs so that should not be an issue eithor. (also nobody to my knowledge is fearful of them eithor) I would never want to make any guests uncomfortable. Fosters is such a huge part of our family though- i'd love to include him. Do you think it is a good idea?? (our wedding is going to be an afternoon wedding so it's not going to be a formal formal thing, just semi formal.)

Fosters is part of your family. Period. If you think he will do well at the wedding there is no reason for him not to be there.

If people have a problem with it then poo on them. It's your wedding.

I think it's an awesome idea!! He's a big part of your lives, he'd be super cute, and I think he would behave perfectly fine!

If it was a super formal affair in a big, grand ballroom, then maybe not. But for a nice, not so formal afternoon wedding, it'd be perfect!

That would be so sweet. A few years ago, my hairdresser had a "marriage" ceremony with his partner. They had two dalmatians who were the ring bearers. I got to see the ceremony pictures and they were so cute in their red ribbons. So as long as he is well-behaved and the attendants can keep an eye on him, I think it would be great.

Thanks guys!!
I think he would do well! And I will appoint someone to be in charge of him too and to so that we make sure he doesn't distract anyone or take away from the ceremony. I will definitely be working with him from now till the time of the wedding to make sure i think he's capable of behaving properly during the ceremony. I will be inviting all of my friends/coworkers from the shelter- so I will put one of them in charge of him (yesterday i had 5 of them volunteer for the job while we were at lunch
) I'm still not 100% sure if we're going to do it or not yet, i'm kind of tossing the idea around...but the more i think about it -the more i would love to have him be a part...after all- he's our little baby

Friends of ours had an outdoor backyard wedding and their dog was the ring bearer - it was sooo cute. Not sure if I'd want the dog in an inside church wedding, but outside would be fine

It would be cute.....could you have someone make him a doggie tux? (collar and tails the color of the guys tuxes with "bib" and tie to match the others?)
QUESTION: Are you having a church wedding???
If so you may have to check to see if it`s OK to have a dog in the building before you make too many plans for having him "stand up with you".

I'm still deciding if i want him to wear a little "doggie tux" or a little doggie tie. I think the tie might be less distracting for him. We are having our wedding at a lovely little chapel. We asked the preacher when we first looked at the place if it would be ok and he said that would be find as long as we make sure he's supervised/etc. (which he will be- he will have someone in charge of him at all times that can escort him out if he gets too rowdy

Definately! "normal" people might think it's weird, but who cares about them?

Oh man.. I knew I had seen pics of him before, but I had forgotten what a gorgeous furry boy he is! Just my kind of dog... a big ball of fluff you just want to bury your face in
(Ooh I should shush before my fluffy boy gets jealous
