Well, let me tell you this. I brougt home 3, 6 week old kittens to foster. They were sick. They ran from me so much, meds 2-3x a day didn't help. It's been 6 weeks since they've been here. One got placed, I've just got my two boys. They usually only get near me when they're
1) nipped out
2) being fed
3) wanting to steal my food
4) think I'm asleep
What I do is reserve one canned food I know they absolutely love for "pet time". I pet them & they get to eat. I've worked with them & it's a daily process, but they are improving.
That said, due to the way some cats are raised, like if they weren't socalized as babies, were born to a feral momma, were abused, etc. they are more likely to be a little less social than other kitties. That doesn't mean your kitty doesn't love you. Just means that you will have to work a little more to gain her trust, which is so worthwhile. Trust me, the first time she gladly comes to you your heart will break.
All you can do is find out a big "turn on" for your kitty. Reserve that for special love sessions. I do not reccomend chasing a kitty down to pet them, they end up more scared than anything. She'll come to you when she's ready. I've gone weeks without petting some of mine because something really scared them. They come to me when they're ready.
all cats are different, some like it some dont.
heyu is not big on beign touched, by anyone but me, and even then only once or twice a day will she come over and want you to rub her head, she i snot very much into getting on your lap.
Eazy, who is half lap cat, at times will run like the devil is after him if you go to touch him. depends on his mood.
