Rescues in the Orange County, CA area...

I was wondering if someone on this site could direct me to a reputable rescue organization in the orange county area. I guess I just worry about "rescues" I find on craigslist being more like puppy mills for cats than rescues. But maybe I don't need to worry about that? I'm planning to get my kitty in the next few weeks and want to get it from a good source that I will feel good supporting with the adoption donation, and where I know the kitty was well cared for. I have considered the local shelters too, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any other rescues.

I'm not from Orange County but am bumping this thread in case someone will help!

Anyone? I'd love to support a smaller rescue if I find one that I can support by getting a kitty from them and making a donation (probably not that big since I'm a student but something). But with all the ads on craigslist its hard to tell who's actually a responsible rescue and who just let their cat get pregnant.

If nothing else I'll probably go to FOCHP.org and get one there, but I'd love to have options.

Have you tried looking on Petfinder? You can do a search of shelters/rescues by state and narrow it down to a specific area. Good luck!
