I am currently fostering at cat for my friend until the first of the year and these past few days he's been throwing up. However there is a lot of hair in it so I'm not sure if it's just like normal hairball or if something else is wrong. It only seems to happen after he eats.

I've never had a cat before so I'm sort of lost.

For hairballs, you can buy a tube of hairball gel at a pet store and follow the directions. It should help if that's what the problem is.

However, there are many other possible causes of vomiting. Are you feeding him the same food he is used to eating? Has he just moved into your home? He could be stressed by changing homes (he doesn't know it's only temporary) or by changing foods. Or, his current food might just disagree with him.

If this continues you should take him to the vet to find out what's going on.

I'm feeding him the same food he's used to, actually it's still the same bag that my friend gave me. The feeding portions and times are relatively the same. He's been here for a half of a month but just started doing it about a weekish ago.

He seems fine. I plan on taking him to the vet this coming up week if he's still doing it but I didn't want to jump to conclusions and scare my friend by telling him I'm taking Victor to the vet.

Thanks so much for your help. I bought some I guess you would call over the counter stuff for him but it still didn't work. I took him to the vet today and everything checked out okay the vet just told me I should brush him a lot more and try the stuff I bought for a little longer but if it gets worse to bring him back in.
