I had this horrible headache that I could not get rid of for like a week. I had tried tylenol and advil and it just would not go away. Last night I bought some excedrin and my headache went away within an hour.

The only thing that I see that is different about them is the tylenol I have is 325mg and the excedrin is 500mg. They are both acetaminophen. Excedrin has caffeine in it, but I have tried the tylenol with caffeine and it doesn't work either.

Has anyone else tried both? Which worked better for you?

I actually don't use either, I'm a tried and true ibuprofen (Advil) fan, but I've heard that excedrin is amazing, i just don't like taking the acetaminophen

I sympathize with you...I've had a headache for several days myself.

Excedrin definitely works better for me for headaches. I don't know if it's the caffeine or the mixture of drugs or what. Excedrin migraine actually works best for me, which makes no sense to me because the active ingredients are exactly the same as regular Excedrin.

Neither... I use Orudis KT, it's ketoprofen

It works 100% better and faster than Excedrin, Tylonol, Advil etc IMO & in my experience for headaches, body aches, etc

Google it... look for it at the store.... its there

For headaches I only take Excedrine. Advil helps a bit, tylenol I've not had any relief from since I was a kid. I can take Advil for other aches or fevers, but headaches require Excedrine for me.

Actually I always use Advil.. But then I started using Excedrine Migraine, and then the caffeine started racing my heart.. So be very very careful with excedrine migraine.

I use the Extra Strength fast acting Tylenol for headaches - then have a big glass of water and a lie down and I generally wake up fine.

Excedrine Migraine I use for migraines only and the stuff is awesome. I believe it's Acetominophen, Aspirin and Caffeine.

I don't like taking the Excedrine except for migraines because of the aspirin - I'm not a big fan of aspirin, so prefer to stick to extra strength Tylenol for run of the mill headaches.

If you've had a horrible headache for a week that Tylenol does nothing for, you should be seeing your doctor!!

When I have a really bad headache I sometimes pound my head against a wall, because it feels so good when I stop. You may not want to try this.

Actually Excedrin is a combination of Tylenol and Aspirin. I used to eat Excedrin's like they were candy, and I ended up with a very serious ulcer that almost killed me. My doctors told me I could never have another Excedrin for as long as I live. Now I use Extra Strenght Tylenol for my headaches. The doctors also aid IBProfin is hard on the stomach as well, so I can't take that, either.

Whatever you take, if you pop it alot, you'll eventually become immune to it and suffer the consequences.

B use to be in the Army and if you feel any pain, they just hand you Tylonel 6. While in our everyday lives tylanol 6 is like THE pain killer, he's now immune to any Tylonal...it does not work for him anymore. Either Aleeve or Excedrin does it.

I personally try to tough out the headache for a few hours...sometimes it goes away after a nap, but if it doesn't go away by the end of the day or it increases I'll take either Advil or Excedrin/Excedrin Migraine.

Excedrin is a mix of aspirin , aceteminophen and caffeine ... the three work synergistically ... ie the caffeine speeds up the release of the other two ....

ordis is actaully NO LONGER avail OTC

When I'm not pregnant I take Excedrin Migraine and it works! Tylenol does nothing for me unless it's a mild headache. Difference I'd say would be the caffiene...although I've never heard of a Tylenol with caffeine in it. *shrugs* If you have HBP watch your Excedrin intake.

WEIRD... that's an outrage... LOL! I've only ever used Orudis!!!

I called my pharmacy (in hopes that they could order or something) Then I called my Doctor... he'll just give me a perscrip. for it
"Ketoprofin" As that is all that works for me when I get headaches.

*phew*

Most formulations of Excedrin have aspirin in them. The caffeine is supposed to potentiate the action of acetaminophen and aspirin by speeding up absorption and possibly other mechanisms and has the added bonus of possibly being useful in migraine headaches specifically.

I love Excedrin and I find it effective if taken early enough, but if I take it too many days in a row, I start to get worse headaches because of the rebound effect.

The excedrin I have does not have aspirin in it. It is extra strength and all it has is 500mg of acetaminophen and 65mg of caffeine. I can't take aspirin so I wouldn't take anything with aspirin in it. If I have aspirin, I start to feel really sick.

I have never heard of Orudis before.

I use whatever I have handy. The other day I posted about a horrific headache I had, and finally went and got some excedrin and it went away!! I think it depends on what kind/type of headache it is as well.....

Excedrine Migraine (extra strength) is the ONLY thing that works on my headaches.....Tylenol doesn't to a thing for me for headaches. That being said though Tylenol Arthritis (one of the most strong otc pain relievers you can find) works incredably well on any kind of back ache/ muscle pain i get!!! I have arthritis in my knees and back (years of sports) and Tylenol Arthritis always seems to help!

Just make sure whatever you take you follow the instructions and don't take more than the recommended amount.

I'm with you. I've alway been an ibupropen fan. Stuff with acetamenophen in it actually tears up my stomach.

I tend to take Advil for headaches, and Tylenol for other aches.. For some reason, that just seems to work out better.

The Dr. gave me Naproxen for my carpal tunnel... it doesn't do a thing for me.

I've never really used the Excedrine since I prefer to take as little medicine in as I can and still get relief.. Plus, too much caffeine can give me heart palpitations, and I have no idea how much exactly is too much for me to know if it's okay..
