Movin' on up!
Pearl must think that she's a rodent. In the past few weeks, she has chewed up two pairs of reading glasses, my address book, two patio chair cushions and she's started on the dog bed.

We got her a rawhide bone, for Christmas but, Ike ate his and hers, too. I spanked her, with the chair cushions, to no avail. As soon as I turned my back, she had it, again.

Today, I bought two BIG rawhide bones and some spray, called "Bitter End". I sprayed my new cushion and the dog bed. Pearl took a tongue swipe, at the cushion and made straight for the water bowl. Maybe, this cushion will last!

We gave her and Ike the bones and each went to their preferred spot. A while later, I noticed that Pearl's bone wasn't in sight. Bill and I went behind one of the sheds and there was the bone, half-buried behind the lawn mower. Pearl grabbed it and went out into the yard to chew on it. A few minutes ago, the bone was gone, again. I found it, half-buried beside the other shed. As soon as I found it, she made off with it. No wonder, that we have all of these new holes, in the yard. That little witch has been burying stuff! Every time I find the bone, she moves it. She's a LOT smarter, than Ike.

Hopefully, the nasty-tasting spray and big bones, will fix the chewing problem. As long as I keep my glasses and cigarettes (she EATS those) out of reach, we should be OK. Its like having toddlers, again!

They've been a hoot, today. Ike has been laying on the dog bed, guarding his bone. He wasn't chewing on it, just laying on it. Every time that Pearl got near, Ike growled at her and would start chewing.

A few minutes ago, Pearl dug hers up, again and was prancing around the patio. Ike growled and she trotted over and shook hers, right in his face, as if to say, "I've got my own - nyah!"

hahahahahaahhaahahhhaah oh to be a dog owner. Hubby and I might be getting a house (our first) in the spring/summer, so we'll probably think about getting a golden retriever then. Do you think my cats will mind?

Its been my experience, that the cats train the dog. We, already, had Opie and Rowdy, when Ike came here. Ike had been raised, with cats and knew how to behave.

Opie, quickly, established HIS ground rule: "Don't mess with ME." A few hisses and growls, plus a swat on Ike's nose reinforced this.

Pearl is, still at the point, where she wants to play with everybody. Opie is working on her.

Rowdy, being younger, will play with anybody. She and the dogs have some big-time romps. As long as nobody's getting hurt, I let the pets sort themselves out.
