Well after poor Arnie's illness, Winston now has Coccidia!

I am told most kittens get this anyways as their immune system can not fight as well as an older cat ~ In a older cat they could fight it off. I'm not sure how true this is?

These little kittens are going to make me old and Grey before I reach 27!!

I am a lot more confident with Winston tho as all he is showing is the tell tell yellow diarrhea with omg smelly farts! .
He is otherwise eating very very well and getting in to everything as only a 15 week old kitten could and playing rough and tumble with Murphy!
Oh and he has put on weight! Almost 4lbs!

The vet is giving us some Albon and this other thing that basically binds them up and stops the runs. (I forgot the name of it)

Even tho it is not as serious as the FIP Arnie had, I still have this little worrying niggle in the back of mind that is driving me nuts.
I just don't think I could go through losing another kitten so soon.

I know the feeling!
I can't get rid of that "sick" feeling that Geronimo's FIP treatment isn't going to be as successful as Winchester's has been. I've had that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach about him for a looong time - ever since he first had a "coughing" attack which was supposed to be just a mild case of Upper Respitory. I can only hope & pray that I'm wrong..

I feel for you, Okuda. I just found out yesterday that Geronimo is FIP positive too - the same as Winchester - and has to be on Interferon for the rest of his (hopefully long) life. My heart can't take much more, either.

I'll be sending good vibes your way!

Well we just got the Albon and K-P sol.

Here I was expecting to wear the Albon, I had "cat wrapped" him and everything, and he just drank it! Sipped it down like it was a banana milkshake!
I have the oddest kitten.

Now the K-P Sol on the other hand .. I wore that

So Winston has been on the Albon and K-P sol for 4 days now and his poops are getting better!

We took him to the vets today just to make sure he is ok and she said his intestines still feel a bit ropey but otherwise he's good. She said it normally takes up to 7 days for the Albon to start working proper and to keep him on it for the 2 weeks!

I just wanted to ask (cause I forgot to ask the vet) while they was there cause they are 17/18 weeks, she decided to give the boys their Rabies injections. (Which as normal Murphy did not stop purring, he just didn't even notice it lol)

Will this make them feel off colour for a couple of days like other jabs or do you think it will be ok. I ask cause I don't want to think Winston is getting sick cause of his tummy bug again!

Oh we also found out it looks like Winston is going to be a DLH and not a DSH as was first thought! Time to get the vacuum out lol.

Coccidia is not a big deal - but it can be hard to get rid of completely, sometimes it takes two courses of meds. As for rabies shots, he may sleep a bit more for a day or so but other than that I have never known any reaction.
