What is the easiest way to put ointment in cats eyes? Sweetie has running eyes and vet gave an antibiotic ointment plus Duralac. Sweetie just closes her eyes tight and its like I'm not getting anything in. The vet's office says it gets in her eyes, but as soon as I let her go she cleans her eyes. Its gotten so that in the morning she hides from me. I don't chase her but just wait for her to come into the kitchen. Once I grab her she doesn't fight, she's such a good girl. She loves the Duralac. I put this about a half inch on her food and she gobbles it. She's had an eye problem off and on for the year I've had her. Would appreciate advice on how to hold her, her eye open and put the stuff in. I think I need 3 hands.

The best way I have found to apply ointment to their eyes is to have them facing away from you, with your hand under their lower jaw. Use your thumb on their forehead, above ther eye and "gently" open their eye lid while squeezing a small amount across their eye,or in the corner of the eye with the other hand. Before you let them go,gently massage the eyelid before they have a chance to shake their head or wipe it away with their paw. It's really easy to do once you get the hang of it. Good luck!!
