Introducing myself

Hello all! I just joined this community last week.

In my feline family is ...

Jade: 9 year old, female, black domestic shorthair

Lola: 12 week old, female, silver Egyptian Mau

In 2006 I lost my beloved Siamese boys Ping & Tyler. Littermates born in 1989, it was a very tragic loss for our family. For a while we weren't so sure we wanted to get a new kitten as the pain from losing our boys was too raw. We slowly researched breeds, fell in love with a breed and a breeder and just welcomed home Lola on July 20th. Much to my dismay I should have spent MORE time researching introduction tactics so that is what we are dealing with now.

I hope the introduction problems are solved soon...and I`m so glad you decided to adopt again.
I do understand the need to have some time to grieve though. I`ve been there too, as most of us at TCS have been at one time or another. I know it`s hard...but your new furbabies will find ""in your heart.

Welcome to TCS . I only have one kitten, but there are a TON of posts on here about introducing kittens, and starting over if they weren't introduced successfully the first time. I hope you like it here! Its been really helpful for me and taking care of my new kitten.

I've read that it can be a good idea to keep them separated for the first week, but only barely, like by a door or something so that they can still smell each other. After some time you can open the doors for a while each day to allow them to see each other. that might work. Then again, if Jade is anything like my old cat Twiggy, she'll never like a newcomer. Other cats learned very quickly to give her a wide path!
