My husband and I are in the process of adopting an 8yr old black and white cat named Allie. We also have two dogs, Dakota a German Shepherd, and Faith a Rough Collie.
We just moved cross country, so I am staying with my parents and their two dogs and one cat while we are waiting for our house to close. But, in a couple weeks, we'll be moved and Allie can come home.
Allie belongs to a girl I used to work with who called me up one day and told me she couldn't keep her anymore. She wanted to know the names of a few rescues in the area and knew I would know. After she called the last one (all were full, of course), and planned on just dropping her off at the shelter, I decided Allie would be coming home with me. It's not easy to adopt out an 8yr old cat and I was thinking about adding one to the family anyway.
So, now I am trying to remember what you need to have for a cat, lol. Preparing the dogs has been fun, too. My mom's cat, Buddy, was rubbing his head on Dakota and bit his ear this morning and she just turned her head and ignored him, so I am confident that she's ready. Faith (typical Lassie, lol) loves animals of all kinds and I am sure she will be happy to add to her collection of odd friends. Allie lives with a dog, so she is used to them.
Here are my kids.
This is my moms cat, Buddy.
Here is Dakota and Faith.
Goofy Dakota.
A wet Collie, lol.
I don't have any pics of Allie yet, but I will get some this week when I visit her.
