Marshmallow's 1 day old babies have fleas. i have no clue how this happend. I pay $$$$$$ for Terminix and had the guy come spray last week. I am terrified the babies are gonna get sick. I pulled the fleas off, but when I checked them again they're back. It's not alot only 1-2 but that's 1-2 too many. What can I do besides rip Terminix a new one in the morning? I showed that guy the cat and I told him to spray well cuz I didn't need any problems..

Get a flea comb and a dish of soapy (dish soap) water... take each kitten and comb the fleas off. Dip the comb in the soapy water (thereby rinsing the fleas off in it so they drown). Put the clean kitten in a clean box (or somewhere clean). Do them all. Take mom, and if you can flea comb her, do that...otherwise, you can get rid of them without poison by bathing her in mild shampoo and leaving the lather on for about 10 minutes. The lather and water kills them. Don't bathe the babies.

Take all the bedding, wash it and soak it and then you can dry it. Put mom and babies all back in a clean place with all the clean non-flea bedding..

You may have to spray the area that she was in, and put her in a bathroom or something until the area is dried and no longer toxic.

I know there are links on the web, and I'm not 100% on this method.. it's just as much as I can remember from when someone else asked this.

Hopefully someone will be along shortly with a more thorough and accurate answer.

The only thing I would add to this is make sure the babies don't get chilled. I'm glad you're taking care of it - fleas are a big threat to kittens!

Call your vet, ask if there's anything you can use. When my 1 week old kittens had fleas, my vet told me to use frontline spray. The way i had to do it was spray it on my gloved hand and use very little on the kittens. It worked and it didn't harm them.
