I read that.

Definitely agreed, the difference is insane.

You won't have any other people chiming in until the respect level is raised. Please do not ask me to find proof of this. I'll be at it all night.

The next time I see a post complaining about how much of our precious tax dollars go to social service programs, I swear I am changing my siggy to "White Trash Welfare Kid".

I think you'll find the same people argue here because people come to forums for different things. IMO is only a very small part of TCS and many members are not allowed to post because of their age or their time on the site. I have got pretty outspoken here on several occasions, as have many others, but I can't agree that it regularly descends into name-calling and childishness. First of all, people are very careful and respectful of each other, and second, the mods wouldn't allow it. This forum is a Sunday School picnic compared to other political forums I am on. The very nature of the things talked about means that people are more heated than in the other forums here. But nastiness is not tolerated and members do get put in their place here if that surfaces. It has happened to me when I've got carried away, and it teaches you to be respectful. Just as your post has also been a little inspiration for me. If members here feel belittled and don't post as a result I will apologise if I have been guilty of that. But you DO have to be a little thicker skinned and persistent here, too.

Yeah, you definitely do have to be thick-skinned, but I can surely see where Bonnie's coming from with that. Every so often I'll see a post that just sets me off, even though I try normally to maintain an even keel (sometimes failing miserably).. and I'm sure it's a combination of misunderstanding and a bit of people taking the offensive stance, instead of a defensive stance. It's definitely not as bad as some of the other forums (not on TCS). But it can get pretty infuriating at times.

And Cindy, I forgot to add you into the multi-quote but.. I don't dislike either you or Bruce, although you two are the ones I find myself debating with most often... I'm sure that the two of you could probably do without me, at least upon occasion.

Cats, I have to agree with you AND Sarah on your last posts.
I think the Mods do, do a great job here. We all need a reining in from time to time.
I have to say, I have learned alot on this forum, even from Cats and Sarah.

Friends...

This seems like a convenient place to put a reminder that if you DO have a problem with an individual, the place to discuss it with them is through PMs. No name-calling on the board, please. If it's not something you can (or want to) work out that way, please use the report post button to call the situation to our attention. That goes for individual posts or a more general complaint. We try to stay on top of what's happening, but can't be here all the time, so your help in that regard is much appreciated.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming...

It's a really interesting discussion, and I'd like to contribute to it, but I just don't have the time some of you guys do to read, comprehend, and compose meaningful replies. By the time I get to a post I'd like to respond to, the discussion has progressed another two pages. Keep it up, though -- it's a good thing to be able to debate different points of view.

lol not really no. it would be a boring place if the only people that posted always agreed with me. Then i would have to take your point of view just to have someone to fight with

also its not that i always disagree in heart, i just dont allow what seems like hmm the feel good fix, stop me from seeing what i think is the right thing to do. lol if that makes sense.

I heard this somewhere:
When two swords are slashing at each other, they end up only sharpening one another It is good to hear other opinions and learn from one another in a civil and safe place. Helps the mind expand and think outside their normal box occassionally
