I have to share with you guys these two sweethearts I found while in NY this weekend with Jerry.....we were driving by this old building, like a garage, that you would think is/was abandoned.....well, I see two kitties laying on the dock/porch area, so I ask Jerry to swing around while I go take a look. These kits are not malnourised, but as you can see if you look at the video, the one is covered with matts....it broke my heart. I do think someone is taking care of thier food at least, but not their grooming. Not sure if anyone works in the building during the week or not.

Here's the short movie I took of them..

and here are a couple of pics I snapped....they are both so beautiful, but how I wish I could have helped with the matts on this one! LOL, I did leave a note on the door of the building asking if they had a heart, could they take the one covered in matts to a groomer or vet to have them taken care of. I've heard they can be painful, although this precious girl didnt' seem in any pain at all.

This one was a tad shyer, but just as sweet......

This calico lady is shedding up a storm; her winter undercoat wants to be removed, and could easily and painlessly be done so with a slicker brush. No groomer is necessary. I hope someone can do this for her soon, so she doesn't get hairballs. They do look well nourished, but I sure wish someone could adopt both of them and take them indoors!

I hope someone can take care of those matts too, but did you see the video? the pics don't do her matts justice. They are deep matts, that I don't know a brush could help at this point......

...well, she is a shorthair, and usually I find it's pretty easy, with patience and gentleness, to remove even large matts. My Nikki has a big white undercoat that matts easily, too, but he's a shorthair, so with some brushwork, he's fine! This girl just needs a good brushout and then REGULAR brushing. If you were able to do this for her, she'd probably be extremely grateful...or maybe one of her caregivers could do it on a regular basis. Of course, if she will allow someone to brush her and it isn't effective at removing all the matted fur, she'd have to have a groomer appointment, but I was just thinking it might not be necessary if someone can spend some time with her and gently brush her out.

They are precious Susie...

It's a shame that you couldn't take them home with you.

Oh I know.....you have no idea how I wanted to bring these sweet babies home. Don't you just love how in the video the one keeps talking to me?
