2 days ago, a man at work found a little starving kitten in the parking lot. My husband and I took it home thinking it would be a great companion for Farah who is our current cat. I assume she is about 2 years old and she was also adopted.

So, we introduce them. We put Max (the kitten) down by Farah. Max immediately tried to cuddle with Farah who sniffed at Max and then hissed and ran away. Max seemed confused but seems to have brushed off the experience.

I'm worried about Farah's behavior. Max seems to be about 6 weeks old and could use some companionship. She is very sweet to Farah but Farah will have nothing to do with her and is rather hostile. She hisses and growls at the kitten which is said to be normal behavior but she is even hostile with my husband! He was petting her today and out of nowhere she hissed and clawed at him and yesterday she clawed at his face when he picked her up!

I want to keep Farah but I'm going to want more animals in the future and maybe even children and I can't go through with seeing her so miserable if I know it will never change.

Please help. Any advice is welcome!
