Our two cats, who are both buddies and who have been fixed, have recently had a change in attitude that lasted for about 2 days. We let Simon out for a while but when I tried to get him back in he hissed at me. Then after getting into the house he and my female cat, Tiger, acted quite differently to each other. Simon would stalk and hiss at her even barring his teeth. He would voice his aggression to her also. This lasted about two days. Now they are touching noses again and acting like nothing happened. I was wondering if anyone had a clue as to what happened. Tiger is older than Simon and both have been fixed. However, Simon was neutered at a very young age. Could his tubes have grown back together and this be a sign of male maturity coming on. He is 1 year old. He even showed signs of aggression to me and my husband by hissing at us. Simon is usually a very, very, loving cat and this was an absolute shock to us. Any ideas?

I have never heard of a neuter reversing itself, but that isn't to say it can't happen...I would think that the chances would be small, but again, anything is possible, I suppose.

I will think on this today as I go along with my stuff to do, and post again if I have any ideas.

Best of luck,

Gaye

It sounds to me that his routine was interupted. Have you always let him out? If he was upset about something that happened outside he could have been taking it out on others. I have a cat who will not take aggression out on me but will go for another cat or something that is close to him.

Today, both cats are acting as usual by rubbing noses and such. We have only had Simon for a short time and he had never been let out before. So, yes, I guess we did introduce him to new experiences. He likes to go outside and is becoming more and more of an outdoor cat. I won't let him stay outdoors for long though because I worry about him getting lost or hurt. He really startled me though by stalking and hissing at our older cat. He wouldn't let up for 2 whole days and even hissed and cried at us. I suppose he was upset about something. But his is back to my old Evinrude motor purring kitty. Thanks you guys for hearing me out.

Glad to hear the problem isn't really a problem anymore. *smile*

Now, I hope you will come back and update us on how your two are doing from time to time...have you visited the Cat Lounge yet? It is a great place to meet and greet some of the other members if you are interested.

Thanks for posting,

Gaye

Simon and Tiger had their disagreements again today. I let them out for their afternoon break and all was fine. After an hour or so I let Tiger in but had to go fetch Simon who was not compliant. As soon as both saw each other in the house fur began flying. We squirted each down with a water bottle and they had their time outs. The funny thing is I don't understand what is going on. Simon may be taking his aggression out on Tiger because I made him come back inside or they may have had a disagreement outside. Who knows? They really are a bunch of "kids". You never know what to expect from one minute to the next.
