Just adopted a semi-feral and confined her to a small room for now, will introduce our cat to her soon but not yet. I've got Feliway plugged in, soft music playing all day, and I spend a little time in there on the floor reading and talking to her softly. When I leave she cries because she's not used to being indoors. What else can I do to calm her? I can't stay in there with her all day long.

Get a 4-point harness and take her for walks. It's the kind with 2 collars, attached by a little strip on the back with a leash hook (the 2nd collar goes around her tummy, of course). Let her wear just the harness indoors for a little while at a time (when you're around) - it should be just tight enough to allow one (not fat :-) finger to slide under it. Then try her on the leash during a quiet time in a quiet place (bkyd?) and let her take the lead... it's not like walking a dog. She may do acrobatics at first trying to get out of the thing, but that doesn't usually last long.

Because she's a semi-feral, she's scared of us so we can't even pet her for now.

I'm pretty sure she's crying for emotional reasons, not physical, because we just brought her to the vet and her problems were taken care of so she's physically much better now.

Thanks for your suggestion though, I wish we could take her out for a walk.
