A friend of mine has a sick 9 yr old, Himayalan cat. Let me say that the cat is at the vet now, being kept for tests and getting fluids.

It started with URI symptoms, sneezing, etc. and was put on antibiotics a couple weeks ago. Now the cat is lethargic, dehydrated, losing weight and won't eat. Her white blood count is 3x normal, but NO fever.

negative for felv and fiv. They are doing more tests and have her on iv liquids but so far, no clue what's wrong.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?

Gawd, that sounds exactly like our little Arnie.

He had all those symptoms and no fever and it turned out to be FIP They thought it was and treated for Coccidia)

I really hope your friends cat gets better

All tests came back negative but Carrigan is still at the vet. She is being force fed and on iv liquids because she won't eat or drink on her own.

Still has the URI symptoms, which is what started and her white blood count is very high, but they do not know why. Whatever antibiotic drugs they are giving her don't seem to be helping yet. Her prognosis isn't good at all if they can't find out whats wrong with her soon

Thank you for the link. I have passed it on to my friend so she can ask her vet about this.

I'm assuming they did since the cat is 9 and they have had her for almost a week now, but I will try to find out more when I talk to my friend later today.

The symptoms started just a few days after they moved. Cat travelled by plane (in cabin).

Good News!

Carrigan is home today! They still do not know exactly what was/is wrong with her, but she is improving and started to eat on her own again. She's at home, taking lots of medicine and goes back for a checkup later this week.

Thanks for all the TCS vibes!
