Hi, guys!

Here's my story in a nutshell. A guy I work with brought in a kitten that he had found in his truck and threatened to kill it if no one took it. Since I couldn't let that happen, I now have a kitten that I estimate to be around 4 weeks old. She's a darling, long-haired, gray kitten that I named "Macy Gray".

I quickly discovered that she can't drink from a saucer without nearly drowning herself and kept trying to "nurse" from my fingertips. I bought a Hartz bottle for kittens and some formula at WM. She takes it pretty well, but tries to chew on it more than anything, which means that I have to steadily squeeze the formula through the nipple into her mouth. I talked to another person that has had some experience with this and they said it was normal.

My main concern is that she hasn't pooped yet. Her belly is quite round now and I've gotten her to urinate about four times since yesterday morning. She may have peed more than that without me knowing, though. The formula bottle says that I'm supposed to rub her bottom to make her go to the bathroom, which has worked twice. I've been sitting her in the litter box regularly and she's went twice that way, on her own.

I don't know how long it's been since she had a bowel movement, or how long she went without eating before she was discovered. I can't really afford a vet visit at the moment, and as she seems to be doing fine (playing, eating, and urinating), is there any reason for me to be worried?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping out a newbie. I haven't ever bottle-fed anything before.

Meet Macy Gray!

at her age she might have already started to eat and prefer that. Get some wet cat food(preferably kitten but if all you can get today is cat its fine) and see what she does... mash it a bit and make sure its a tiny bowl or on edge of plate(more then likely will plow through the food then eat so have a few towels
Have 24 cats and raised a few kittens over the years. kmr makes a weaning powder(2nd step) its good for a too young for food to old for straight milk kitten(petsmart has it)
