We found a kitten who has watery eyes and sneezes a lot .. it seems she's getting better and she has an appointment with the vet in a couple of days.. While we were making the appointment they said it could be allergies orpossible Feline leukemia.. but I researched it and she doesn't have any of the symptoms.. she did have diarrhea the second day we had her but it went away by the next day and her stool returned to normal .. and her eyes aren't cloudy just watery and get a little goopy in the corners.... We all thought it was just allergies... Any opinions!?

Sounds like an Upper respitory infection. (URI) She needs to be seen at the vet as soon as you can. If you have other cats in the household you are going to want to keep them seperate from her as Upper respitories can spread like wildfire.

Ok.. Thank You for replying... We have two other cats in the house and they have been exposed to her but they haven't licked her .. they don't get that close to her... but they have shared water bowls (Oops) .. so I'm wondering and hoping that it's not too late... the other 2 show no sign of it but I know it does take time to develop..

URI's are very contagious. Hopefully your other cats are older, and have a good immune defense. Try to get the kitten in the vet soon as possible. I don't know when your appoinment is- but the longer you wait the worse it will become.

For now- isolate the kitten in a room where she won't have any interactions with the other cats. Give her- her own water, food, and litter box. Even if it is just allergies or something of that nature- you don't know what else the new kitty might have. Get her checked out at the vet first before they interact more. There are far worse things than a URI to worry about- I would hate for your resident kitties to catch anything.

Good luck

Please keep us updated!

I almost forgot! Congradulations on the new kitten!

Yeah I isolated her and everything.. and cleaned and disinfected the food and water bowls for the other two... Garfield is 3 and Midnight is 4 and they are very healthy and never even had a cold... the only thing they've done is every once in awhile they throw up food or a hairball but that's normal... Yes I will keep ya updated

Garfield and Midnight should be ok. They might catch a hint of it- hopefully not though

I forgot to tell you before make sure you wash your hands up to your forearms and change your clothes if possible after you visit with the new kitten- just to keep the possibility of spreading germ to a minimum

When I first got Murphy he had a slight URI- thankfully Chichi did'nt catch it. But after a couple rounds of meds- he's been free and clear ever since

There are many members here who have dealt with URI's- usually you get some kinda eye antibiotics. Its looks like petroleum jelly or something in a tube-and you apply it directly to their eye. If you have to do that, and need advice or anything about how to hold kitty still- don't hesitate to PM me
