Well a month or two ago dad dropped a couple of cups over a few days putting them in the cupboard, one was a favourite of mums. Now just 5 mins ago, he knocked my favourite mug off the sink and it smashed into a thousand pieces
i went searching all over the place for the perfect mug that was big and pretty and now i don't even remember where i bought it

Why does he have to be such a big klutz. He also lectures me about using a tray or table when i eat in the lounge, and i've never spilt anything. In the last year since we moved here he's already spilt tea/coffee/hot choc onto the nice clean carpet because he is a schmuck who DOESN'T look where he's going

I loved that cup

Sure am sorry about that. I know how you feel -- once preparing for a move, my dad was helping me and he broke a big vase my best friend had given me. I got really upset at the time, but of course he didn't intend to do it, it was unfired clay and it had broken numerous times before (and been mended, as it was this time, and as it needs to be again, after my last move!). I keep my mom's best stuff packed away or in the china cabinets, because I know, it can't be replaced; but all in all, it's only material things. You'll have your mom in your heart always, cup or no cup.

I know the feeling! When I moved back to NZ from the States, I had this Taz mug - it was big and perfect for my big cups of coffee. Hubby gave it away to Goodwill!
I was mad! Gah!

awww it'll be ok love.
accidents do happen- i'm sure we've all broken our fair share of things (i know i've been a clutz on occassion!- note:do not "warm" butter in the microwave using a measuring cup- it will break and leak all over the place
)

this site has some really cute ones! maybe you could find a new favorite
i'm wanting the gumby one myself

Sure am glad to hear that. But if it's an item that she gave you or an item special to her, then of course it's special to you, too. My personal philosophy tends to be, "oh well, it's only 'stuff'!" when things break. But some things ARE special, I know. Ah, life!
