As of August 12 all cell phone numbers will be given to telemarketers
. They will call your cell phone using your minutes and your time...if you would like your cell # taken off the list call the number below from each phone that you would like removed!

Here is the number for the Do Not Call Registry 1-888-382-1222
It has also been said if you decide not to remove your number because you dont answer your phone if you dont recognize the number then you will be receiving anywhere between 1 and 20 calls a day from them!

I just wanted to share this bit of information with everyone

Every couple of years I see this claim surface. As of right now, no...there won't be a publication of all cell phone numbers (i.e. a white pages) and they won't be handed to telemarketers.

I still register my cell with the Do Not Call....just incase...

There's no place like home
It is illegal for a company to market to you when it costs you money. That includes minutes on cell phones and faxes (you are paying for the paper).

If you get a call from a telemarketer on your cell phone, ask for their company name, their name, a phone number where they can be reached, their address, and anything else that will place the company. Once you have that information, inform them that they have reached a cell phone number and what they have just done is illegal and you will file a complaint against them with the FTC. Then file a complaint with the FTC.

I got a call once on my cell and this scared the heck out of them. It's usually enough for them to go back and check their lists. Telemarketers should know the phone numbers reserved for cell phones (the area code and first 3 digits tell them that they are cell phone based).

(and yes, I work for a phone company)

When I used to work at a research lab in NYC, we'd get advertising faxes all the time, at least once every couple or few days. But I guess the hospital that the lab is connected too has so much money they didn't really care.

Since last month, some travel agency saying I won a free night at a hotel and an internet shopping spree keeps calling my cell, and that in order to receive the gifts I have to have to listen to a 1 hour sales pitch in one of their offices. Thing is I told them I'm not interested, but then they just have someone else call me from their office. If I ignore them they leave the same repetitive message in my mailbox. Ugh, persistent buggers...

I THINK there is one instance where a business can legally telemarket to you, and that's if you've had previous business with them.
