If I were to pierce my daughters' ears when she was a baby, I would have it done via clamp and needle, not piercing gun....because piercing guns hurt and the needle doesn't

I have mixed views on it so idk. However, at least they are piercing their earlobes and not their cartilage which has a tendency to become infected (esp. with multiple piercings), so that's a little bright side

OMIGOSH ARE THOSE ADORABLE!!! What a siggy.

That is something I've never heard of before. I wonder what the reason is for it? But you're right -- maybe in time, she will be able to have it done successfully. My dad did mine when I was small, with a needle and a potato behind the ear for stability, and ice beforehand to numb the site. Easy! But there are those "guns" that shoot the earring into the ear instantaneously; those are wonderful and just about painless!

I have mine pierced, 3 in the left and 2 in the right.

I don't agree with getting babies done, we had to wait until we were entering high school and would be able to look after them.

Perhaps there should be an age limit on piercings, my sisters MIL aged around 55 just got her navel done and is wearing hipster jeans & midriff shirts
While there may be some who could pull the look off, she is not one of them

I have three earrings in each ear
The top two are just tinsy little "diamond" studs and the bottome ones i like to wear pretty earrings in.
When we have kids i don't plan to have their ears pierced until they are old enough to decide if they would like them done or not, and are responsible to care for them

I have a grand total of 23 piercings overall, though I'm constantly adding more.

Currently I have 10 in my right ear, 9 in my left ear, 3 in my bottom lip and one in my belly button. I'm debating getting another lip piercing on my top lip and taking out 2 of the bottom lip piercings (the ones at the side). I have a plan of at least 3 more for the ears.. Contemplating an eyebrow piercing... I'd LOVE another one in my belly button but I had a horrid time with healing so, maybe not...

Then I want a tattoo... but that'll have to wait til I've lost more weight..

Hehe, you just touched on one of my huge obsessions outside cats..

Silly question. Why do you need to lose more weight for a tattoo? I've had two in the last 2.5 years and i am not skinny, and they healed quickly and perfectly.

Stretching... I think. When your body changes it can distort the tattoo.

I had mine done when I was I think 3? Then when I was 15, I added 4 more in my left ear but have since taken them out. I only have 1 in each ear now and keep sinple gold hoops in.

I'm gonna get flamed for this one but both the boys have thiers pierced.
Justice was around 4 when he had it done. It got infected so we took it out. Then when he was about 7 he asked again so I let him. And of course little brother wanted it done too so I let him.
They both have little diamond studs in them. I think it's cute

Because I want it on my stomach.

I want a really simple design.. just stars.. and I'm pretty sure that, since I have anywhere up to 60lbs I want to lose, the tattoo would get seriously distorted were I to lose all that!

Plus.. I hide my stomach at all costs right now.. seems like a tattoo there would be a waste!

Boys with earrings?!?! Little diamond studs?!?! Oh I want to see!!

I happen to think guys with too many earrings are the best thing ever.. but that's not the point..

I simply don't think I've ever seen young boys with ear piercings!

I had mine done this way when I was 15
. One fell out during the night and I could not get it back into the hole. So it was left out the other would never heal so it was eventually taken out also. So as of right now I have no ear piercings and not sure if I want any either. Also I would have to use real gold or the hypo allergenic kind anyway as the cheap kind make me itch.

Also the thought of pulling earrings out gives me the willies and I don't like to do it. Not even on someone else!

Well, I remember similar things happening with mine when they were first done, but I just put the studs back in and eventually, they were okay. Sounds like you also have nickel allergy -- I know dermatologists recommend only using gold for the initial piercing process, but some gold has nickel in it is most gold sold here is alloy. 14K is only 58 per cent gold, I believe; it's best to buy 18, 21 or 22 kt. or 24 if possible, and you can get those readily online or on home shopping channels. You need to be sure there is no nickel in them. I have severe nickel allergy also; so did my mom. A lot of so-called "fine jewelry" has it. Sterling silver is .925 fine, but it, too can have nickel. There is a brand of earrings called Simply Whispers which is nickel-free and NOT gold or silver; it's available at reasonable cost in lots of great styles. I used to do mailorder with them, but they should have a website, in case you ever decide you want to get "brave" again. And if you go to a good jewelry store where they do piercing with those "guns", it's quick and almost pain-free, and they give you a kit with instructions on how to clean them while they heal - you just can't go wrong.

Here is the link to the Simply Whispers site: http://www.SimplyWhispers.com and they even sell ear piercing kits (the "guns" I was talking about!)

My ears are not pierced, and I'm very thankful that my parents were at least smart enough not to get mine pierced as a baby or young child - mainly because I have always been and always will be a klutz.
If I had my ears pierced as a child I would have ripped them out on something. Breaking cartilage in one of my ears was painful enough.

I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one that doesn't agree with babies and children getting their ears pierced. Why is it one must be legal age to get piercings anywhere else? It doesn't matter where the hole is, it can still get infected.

I've torn mine, too -- had to get 'em sewn up at the doctor's office. I guess I have a high threshold for pain and tolerance for stuff like that -- I'm a burn survivor, and a whole lotta other stuff, so that may be why. It's not so bad -- piercing the nose is much more painful! It is done without anaesthetic of any kind.
But it is beautiful to wear a nose pin!

GORGEOUS siggy you have there, btw -- lovely feliners!

I have two piercings in each ear, but don't wear earrings any more.

My daughter, who wants hers pierced but doesn't want the pain, got kind mad at me once and demanded to know, "Why didn't you pierce them for me when I was a baby?"

Mine are peirced. Done in like 2nd grade, healed in 3rd grade when mom ripped my ear lobe open. Re-pierced in 6th grade. Long-term infection set in....can't wear any ear rings, even unbelievably expensive ones. Haven't worn earrings in awhile.....love big gaudy hoops & miss them terribly.
