Thankyou soo much everyone!!
I'm really excited! I'm still searching for a venue....today i found out i couldn't get the little chapel i was hoping for (they're making some renovations to it that are going to take a while)...BUT i may get to have it at Opera Memphis or Occassions- both are REALLY nice places and pretty affordable too!
I think i'm going to make my own invitations, do my own flowers/decor and things like that- so i'll save on that dpt. As of right now i'm debating on two different months - it will eithor be in November of this year (only 3 months away! time wise/money that might be a little soon so i'm not sure yet!) or March of 2008. I think i'm leaning towards March but i'm not sure yet! When we set a date i'll let ya'll know!

I didn't think he was going to do it at all because he had taken soooo long about it- that's why i was completly suprised when he did it on my birthday
it couldn't have been more romantic or more of a suprise though!

how sweet of Colin to propose you on your birthday! He sounds like such a sweetheart. I am sooo happy for you both! so are our kitties and our other animals invited to the wedding?
Awww thanks hon!!!!
I was thinking about having one of the dogs in the wedding, but i'm afraid Fosters would be too crazy around all the people and Whiskey would think everyone was trying to kill him
so i don't think i'm going to have any furbabies at the wedding....BUT what i was thinking- is instead of giving gifts to guests/bridal members etc at the reception/rehersal dinner i think it would be better to make a donation from Colin and I to the shelter where i work and to St. Jude and leave a little note saying a donation has been made in their honor/etc. So that way we will get to help others too!

So how was the rest of the vacation?????
The rest of the vacation was great! Thanks for asking! We went to Six Flags the first day, Hurricane Harbor (the water park part of six flags) on our birthdays and also back into the theme park for a bit. Haha I drug Colin on just about every rollar coaster/ thill ride there
(he HATES drops so i didn't think he'd actually do it- but he was sooo brave and ride all the scarry rides with me
-i'm a rollar coaster junkie
The only one he flat out refused to go on was Mr. Freeze- one of my favorites, so he stood in line with me and was there at the exit cheering me on
) We went to the zoo the next day (30th) and it was AWESOME!!!!

The St. Louis zoo really is amazing!!! I LOVED the penguin exhibit and the giraffe one. I got some good pictures of the giraffes on my disposable camera. The Sun Bears were absolutely adorable too! I wanted to take one of them home with us
The hepatarium was also amazing!!! The St. Louis zoo also had a really neat gorilla exhibit and some other ones for the monkeys/primates that were soo cool!!! The Giraffes were definitely my favorite though
one of the baby giraffes kept trying to put it's head over the side where all the visitors were- it was sooooo sweet! I got some really good close up pictures. I also thought it was really neat how much the St. Louis zoo is doing to help endangered/threatened animals with the different programs they have- that is sooo good!

We also got to see one of his former Navy buddies and go out to dinner with him. That was fun as well. It was a really nice trip!
Best of all, it was really affordable too!

I can personally recommend Renovia (TCS member) if you want fantastic invitations!

I think the idea of making a donation is so cool! Of course mostly if your attendants UNDERSTAND that sort of thing. Nothing worse than nasty griping bridesmaids, LOL! (*whine* i didn't get a present....)

Congrats Nikki.

Married life is wonderful. Just one peice of advice someone gave me right after we got engaged and it has helped.

Never ever go to bed angry. No matter what it takes. No one sleeps untill the fight is over.

Aww thanks!
Here is what i have figured out so far: Maid of Honor- my best friend Renae....my bridesmaids- i'm hoping two of my three sisters and my coworker, I think i decided on March for the wedding, and we're still looking at Venues. I'm soo excited/stressed!

And best news of all- my best friends dad is going to walk me down the isle!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sooo excited! He's been the only father i've ever really known. I asked him last night and he said he would be delighted to
/ Thanks for reminding me to mention that tidbit about the donations in lue of gifts to guests/attendants!!!!!! I wouldn't want them to feel like they were left out!
Oh yea- i think we found a cake person too!! I'm also planning on having a little table set up just for the kids at the wedding where they can decorate their own cupcakes- i think that'd be really fun for them and would give them something to keep them entertained. I'm going to have some sparkling grape juice for them in little plastic wine glasses so they can toast too

That is some of the best advice ever spoken- and you know what-we've done that from day one. I think that's why we've stayed together as long as we have too. I was always raised to never go to bed angry at anyone without trying to resolve the problem and i think that's one of the best things my mom tought me. Great Advice! Thanks hon

That's what my best friend did too when i called her to tell her the news
she screamed right into my ear and ran around her house to yell the news to her family

cute picture!! and well, he's more of a dog person per say (i actually am split right down the middle on cats and dogs i love them both equally!) but he LOVES our kitties to pieces though
Kojak and Jasmine sleep right beside him at night and Velvet sits on his computer desk with him
Isabella could care less though. He's really good with animals! He's been helping me take care of my sister's infant foster puppies while she's out of town til lthe 10th.

If you go to the St. Jude website, you can make a donation, and order a number of "favors" with that written on it. I looked into doing that when I got married.

I may sound awful but I want to caution you. I made a donation to St. Judes just a couple of years ago in honor of a business person that passed on per family's request for those wanting to remember this person.
I then had to deal with phone calls and letters soliciting further donations..the phone calls in particular bothered me as despite my asking, they did not stop.

I will never again donate to St.Jude's because of this.

CONGRATS NIKKI!
I am so glad that you two are finally getting married! I think it's awesome that they are using a family heirloom as part of the ring. That will make it so much more special for you!

Now the fun part is picking out your gorgeous wedding gown! I wish you two all the best!

Thanks for the heads up! I am a huge fan of our local St. Jude. I used to go and help with their story day once in a while with some friends (we'd pick some cute childrens books and just read to the kids and spend time with them.)

When my cousin lost her baby, Savannah, last year all of our family made a donation in her memory so that even in her passing, she'd still live on and help other children. St. Jude was sooo good to our family too- they sent out a beautiful letter from us to my cousin and her family and i really think it helped. I've never had them try and solicite for more donations though, but i do use my cell as my primary phone so that could be why.
Eithor way though, St. Jude definitely has a huge spot in my heart- so that's why we would love to choose them. We are also thinking about donating to the shelter where i work as well.

Aww thanks love!!
Ohhhh and i've gone through sooo many bridal magazines lately- but i think i have my gown picked out now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know they style i want (ball gown with the pretty wave looking layers- i'll try and find a picture!) I also decided on the boquet and colors so now i just have to pick a final date!
We've narrowed it down to eithor March 15, 16, or 22.
I'm leaning towards a Sunday instead of a Saturday though because it's usually less expensive.
Aww i'm soo excited! I'm going to start going to the stores soon and start making my centerpieces.
