Is it me or is watching cats chase flies around for hours one of the most comical things you've seen?
We're putting in new screens and of course some flies have made their way in.
Milo & Jake are leaping around the apartment chasing this huge fly. Jake is determined to catch it.
He has really good eyesight...he was/is not to far behind the fly.
He just caught it finally.

We had our garage door open all weekend while we were working on a carpentry project this last weekend....and needles to say we enede up with several flies in the house with the door being opened and closed so often.....the cats LOVED IT!
YES! It is fun to watch them ....ours are better fly killers than I am. I hit them with the swatter (the flies, not the cats!) and 9 times out of 10 I either miss, or did`nt hit them hard enough, and they get away.
Have you ever seen the animated card on the Jaquelyn Lawson card site with the dog trying to catch the fly? He`s running all over, jumping around, chasing the fly....then a little black cat appears down in the corner of the screen, it reaches out and kills the fly with one 1 swat....waaaay toooo cute!

It is fun to watch them so determined to catch something. I swear it's about the only time Frankie runs... unless it's dinner time!

Now, I've gotta see if I can't find that card you mentioned, Linda. It sound cute... and very typical of a cat/dog relationship.

Ollie does this too! Haha, it's funny to watch his head zip from side to side as he eyes up whatever's flying around - it's great when the fly lands on the tv screen and all of a sudden it's like watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 cuz there's a set of cat ears in the way
... he likes to swat them down and smoosh them just enough that they can't fly (or at least not much) but aren't dead, he's such a monster! He watches them suffer, stomps them some more then eats them.... mmmmm, protein! haha

back home in VA!
I love it we too get many house "guests" everytime we let the dogs out...and our cats especially Tigger goes nuts he chases them around the house sits on top of the entertainment stand waiting for one to fly into his open waiting mouth Its so funny next time we let them out Im going to follow the cats around with my video camera and record tigger
Our collie Lilly also chases and kills flys. She will watch them fly around and when they come close to her she leaps in the air catching them in her mouth!

Shortly after we got Swanie, he was sitting on the couch and all of a sudden went flying off the side of it, onto the kitchen table, up on his hind feet staring at the light going Mrow...Mrow...Mrow. Some kind of flying bug, but we didn't see the bug, and it was just hilarous.

It's also funny to watch them watching a crawling bug, like a spider. They'll get one on each side of it and if it stops moving, one will bat at it with their paw.

Cindy goes on "bug patrol" most evenings.

He ate one once, and started throwing up afterward and ended up at the vet. I'm not sure the two were related, but it seems to have cured him of chasing/eating flies (at least I've seen flies in here since and he totally ignores them).

You should see Blossom when she's after a cockroach.
She keeps going back to the same place she last saw it, even if I've got rid of it. She sometimes chases the invisible & is so determined whether it be moths or flies.
