It's super hot here today & Jordan has an appointment for a blood draw this afternoon. The problem is that the air conditioning dosen't work in my car. The drive is only about 10 blocks, but I'm still worried about him over heating. I was thinking about putting one of the frozen water bottles I have in the carrier with him, but i'm worried the vet office will think I'm off my rocker. What would you think?

Do you really care what other people think? It's your cat and if you want to make sure he doesn't get sick in the heat then why worry about them?

Sounds like a good idea. Do you think the ice will last till after the vet visit too, so he can have them on the way back home?

Oh I didn't think about the way home?? In this heat it probably won't last, but I guess at least he'll only have one hot trip.

It's an excellent idea.
Do you have a second frozen bottle that you could put in an ice chest, with ice, for the trip home?

My husband's car has a remote start. On days I have to take the Old English Sheepdogs (in their long coats), anywhere, I borrow his car. I can set the AV on high and let it cool off before I take them out. And not worry about someone stealing the car.

No, its not crazy! It is hot here today!!! Maybe put a second bottle in a cooler to keep it colder for the trip home. Afternoons are the worst. Let us know how it goes.

If it's only 10 blocks and the appointment is fairly on-time, I can't see it being a huge problem. I doubt the bottle would even thaw completely in that amount of time so would stay cool enough for the trip home as well.

WELL, I'd think you cared a lot about Jordan and as far as I'm concerned, that's the ONLY thing that counts.

That's basically what I did when I took my ratty to the vet. I wrapped it in a towel and she laid right on top of it. I may try it for Chase's re-check tomorrow, if I can't borrow a family member's car with a/c. How'd it work out for your kitty?

I actually ended up not doing it because by the time I drove home from work the car wasn't super hot. Then when I went in to get him I just left the windows open. The car is a 1996, with 138,000 miles, I don't think anyone would want to steal it anyway.
