In the past few month my two cats have started shredding cigarettes, happens at night, they don't seem to be eating the tobacco. I wake up to a shredded pack in the morning, if I don't hide them. They aren't destructive with anything else, and don't touch ashtrays, just the ones in the pack.

Is there something in the cigarettes that is attracting them? They cats are almost 4 years old, and this is new for them.

Any ideas?

I don't think it's anything in the cigarettes. My most 'spirited" cat, Boo, used to get into my smokes the same way when she was younger. I think they do it out of boredom....but of course, they may be trying to tell us they don't want us to be smoking around them!

Oh do be SO careful - Nicotine (if ingested) IS poisonous and can kill them - please keep it far away from the cats!
