There are people in this world, that are just nuts!

I'm proud of the officers, there are some that would have just shot him!

Yeah!! I saw that earlier on the news! Crazy, huh?! I don't understand the grandfather or the whole exorcism thing in this case anyway, but I can't believe that the tazer stopped his heart and he died. Man...

Maybe the tazer transferred the demon into the grandfather,thus killing him? I mean....ya never know! Sad story tho.

Um... he was choking a little girl. The only sad part is that he decided to do an 'exorcism' and managed to do so much harm before the police got there. What a nutjob.

I thought that exorcisms had to be approved by the Vatican and could only be performed by a priest? I didn't see anywhere in that article that the Grandfather was a priest.

Besides, choking a child does not help in releasing the demon.

The Catholic Church isn't the only religion, that performs exorcisms. There have been several abuse/murder cases, wherein fringe "religions" have injured or killed people, during so-called exorcisms. I was raised in a Pentecostal church and witnessed a few attempted exorcisms. These merely involved "saved" members of the congregation surrounding the "possessed" and praying for all they were worth (rather tame, by exorcism standards).

Claims of demon possession are generally rooted in mental illness (the victim's and/or the "exorcist's"), ignorance and/or superstition.

I'm not too put off by the fact that the man died, but this does bring up the safety of tazer guns.

Forget that this man was doing something evil, he died as the result of a tazer gun. I think there needs to be more research into the use of tazers and their safety. IMO, they're not as safe as many claim they are.

Not only was the nut job strangling this little girl, but his 19 year old daughter was naked, covered in blood, and chanting! Weird stuff.

Tazers certainly have a lethality statistic associated with them. Generally people with weak hearts (elderly) can die from a tazer stun, since the heart is basically an electrically driven organ. Just place the shock in the right place and dispense the right amount at the right time and you can stop just about anyone's heart.

Just like the resuscitation shock pads can cause death if you horse around with them and "shock people as a joke".

However, currently there really is no other less lethal method that incapacitates someone as quickly and as safely as a tazer. Nothing short of mind control will be 100% non-lethal.
