Has me working 30+ hours next week.
They're mad because I have been switching nights this week, too. Well, booger off! I told them no more than 20 hours a week. I'm working like 34 hours next week I think?

Hire more people! 2 are leaving for college. I start college & will only be avaliable 15 hours maximum(or I quit) starting Aug. 26th. 1 gal is done as of Thur, another is likely leaving soon(like within a week or two).

I had that happen one semester in college for about 2 weeks. I was so beat after that I went to my manager and just told her I couldn't do that many hours anymore. So what did she do? Cut my hours so much I was hardly working! But after I said something again things smoothed out. I hope you can figure something out there. I always said that my education was priority because that was my future....not retail! (I am so not made for retail!) Then my boss and I ended up in a class together and she really understood why I didn't want to work that much!

That's what I had about part time jobs. They will work you as much as they can and still consider you part time (hence, no benefits for most companies). Can you work that schedule for that week, then write up a list of what days and time you can work? Have the manager sign it, and get a copy for your records. If you can only work 20 hours a week, explain to the manager why. Good luck!

Oh I know once I say something to this gal, she'll help me find someone to cover one day for me. It's like ridiculous.....I should've gotten a written agreement when they hired me as to my hours. I told them I need Saturdays off at 4PM so I can go to church....yeah....I've had one Sat off in like....1 1/2 months?

I would be pissed if I told my employer that I could only work 15 hours a week and then found myself working more than double that. They have no right to make you work more than what you agreed to when you were hired. I could see if they were short on help one week or something and asked if it was okay to schedule you for some extra hours till they could hire another person to take up the slack. But not asking and just pushing the extra work onto someone is wrong. Unfortunately many retail places are like this. They pay thier workers too little, and expect too much from them in return, then are suprised when employee's get upset or angry.

Yeah, well, they won't hire more people, either. 3 weeks from now, they're gonna be crying that they didn't hire anyone as there won't be enough people to cover!!

That is the best way I would think, being upfront about it. If you can't do it, then you can't.
to get you thru the week
