So I spent this morning coloring my hair, it was a serious process of events... I had to do all my outgrowth black, then I had to bleach the underneath once (that didnt work well), so then I did the underneath again with some bleach and a highlift color (still not blonde enough), so I said screw it, Im going all out... So I made the underneath bright red (being a licensed barber/cosmetologist has its benefits, dont know how much i would have had to pay at a salon for all the steps I went threw)... Its actually growing on me

I promised some finished photos and here they are...

Sooo jealous!!!
Been colouring my hair black for years but it looked more goth when it was long at the front and spikey at the back. now my hairs really long and curly so i'm letting the black grow out. Too much effort. I love your hair!!

Its a pain in the butt and requires patience but in the end it is worth it... It was a pain from me because I had to bleach out all the black underneath and then use a lift and deposit red haircolor product... So I went over the limits... I didnt just double process, I triple processed my hair... and somehow it isnt fried, which shocks me! Now all I need is a haircut (been like a year).

Have you ever bleached your hair before this time? For me bleaching 3 or 4 times was alright...but more than that - DON'T do it! I had to shave my head lol. My hair was like straw. I am bleach free for over 7 years now lol.

Thanks its not too hard.... well the red is really easy (Matrix Redlights) because it lifts color out and deposits the red all in one step... Instead of having to bleach and then deposit... It does that for you (unless your hair is already colored then the redlights wont lift that color out, since color wont remove color... hence why I had to bleach my hair twice before usin the red)... Last time I tried going red underneath it didnt work at all... Because I didnt use bleach... I was so mad, all that work for nothing... Im glad it turned out this time!

Ive never bleached my hair on-the-scalp... Just did highlights with bleach... I am licensed in barber/cosmetology so I know my limits and how to avoid a major catastrophe... My hair is all good and that was with using powdered bleach and 40 vol (usually it is only recommended to use 20 vol on the scalp, and that wasnt going to lift out the black)... So this is my first bleach experience...on myself, Ive bleached clients for quite sometime (color was/is my specialty)

Yes well..lol. That's what i've been told by hairdressers. I'd have to chop all my hair off to get the black out
aaaaand it's taken me about 6 years to get it this length so NOOO choppy!!! Though it gets really knotty if i want it down and let the curls show they all intertwine because i have curves, waves, corkscrew and EVERYTHING in BETWEEN!!! oh yeah...or get the bleaching thing done *cringe*

You dont have to grow it out to get rid of the black??? You can use a color remover and work towards a tint back or other desired color... Lazy stylists...

But i want a red sort of shade, and i have years and years of black built up. It would be different if i'd had one layer of dye, but i started dying my hair black maybe 8 years ago, and only really had minute haircuts since then so it's still in there.

I've always wanted to dye my hair black but I don't think it would suit me. Going for a darker brunette with highlights next time I get the at-home kit.

That really doesnt matter... I have had my hair black for almost a year, and underneath the black there is violet, underneath the violet there was red violet, and underneath that is brown... Each of those colors I had almost a year at a time... So I have alot more underlying pigments than just the black you have in yours... It is very possible... If you lived near me Id do it for you... No problems!!!

Poop, why aren't you in Oz? lol. I hate going to the hairdressers, they boof up my hair and turn me into a poodle. I've pretty much been cutting and colouring my hair since highschool. So i can learn from my own mistakes lol

Black grew on me... Its really extreme because I go the darkest level made... and I am REALLY PALE!!! Im naturally an ashy blonde, so when I went black (from dark brown... was my last current color) it was very extreme... my mom hated it (she loves me all blonde
) but it seems it has grown on everyone now... I figure life is too short, why not take some chances. You can change the color of your hair if you dont like it... Unlike some other permanent fads like piercings and tatsd which are there forever (Im guilty of both... now Im playing with my haircolor because that is fixable)!!!

Lol i'm guilty of both as well :p i'm still getting up the courage for my third tattoo and i got my lobes done a second time a couple of weeks ago. So they should be healed by the time i go away with Tristan for our anniversary, and i can wear TWO pairs of perty earrings!! *dances*

My hair is as far as i remember lol a light brown. The colour changed through my life, when i was early high school, it was actually the same length as it is now, but it looked i had blonde highlights for some reason, i was out in the sun alot. WHen i see my natural colour, i have these strands between the brown that are golden and shiny. And i've noticed i have a combination of really fine thin strands and really thick black. It's so weird!!!
