I never realized that these cases skyrocketed when children started being put in the back seat.

So many more children died before putting the seat into the backseat. What is amazing to me is that despite the rise in these deaths people are still leaving their kids and their pets in cars to die.

Regardless of whether the kid is in the front or the back, HOW do you FORGET that you have a child with you?

My Pops is 80 years old, he and my mom are raising my 1 1/2 y/o great-nephew and Pops would NEVER forget Tyler.

Wow, that is awesome that they would take on raising an 18 month old at their age. My Dad is 84 and has dimentia and there is no way he could do that. Your father will be 98 by the time the boy is 18. I hope they have help, it would seem they need it. Your father must be in wonderful shape. It can't be easy for them. How can people that age keep up with a baby that will soon be hitting the "terrible twos?"

Mom and Pops already raised my brother's 4 kids and now they've taken on the next generation. My niece was just dumping Tyler off, with whoever would keep him and Pops couldn't/wouldn't sit by and watch that.

My mother had 4 kids, in 8 years and she never "forgot" any of us - in a car or anywhere else.
