Has anyone seen this product or used it? I saw it once in a catalog of DRS. Foster & Smith. It was flavored water, chicken, tuna, etc to get your cat to drink more water.

We have a Drinkwell fountain, but it seems like they don't use it. I know they must because we find hair in the drain when we clean it weekly. They must drink when we're not looking. What else do you do to entice your cat to drink water? We already use ice cubes too. Plus when we feed the wet in the am/pm, we make it soupy as well.

I'm going through the same thing with my cat. I recently switched her to all wet and also bought a Petmate fountain. I never see her drinking from it, but I judge her water intake by the amount of "pee clumps" in her litter. There's always 3-4 a day, so I know she's getting enough. My cat also doesn't drink when I'm looking. The wet food also helps tremendously with the moisture intake so don't panic if you don't see her drinking.

Yes, I'm not sure how it is flavored. But when I emailed DRS. Fosters & Smith, they said it was unavailable. I'm sure they are getting it enough, but to hear others on this site about their water fountains & having to fill it up all the time, it makes me feel like they are not drinking enough. Maybe I can't tell because I have the extra holding tank connected?

Thanks for everyone's help

Both of our cats drink normal water. They are getting enough cause we catch them drinking a lot from the dog's bowl in the kitchen.

I also add some warm/hot water to the refrigerated canned food so that's another way to add water.

Personally, I don't think the cats would drink chicken flavored water

I don't know about actually buying flavored water, but one of our cats named Gizmo made his own. We had a tin of breath freshener treats called Pit Pats sitting on the desk in his room. Being the little troublemaker he is, he got up on the desk and knocked it into his water bowl. We didn't notice till much later and by the time we removed the tin all the treats had dissolved in the water. He loves it. Plus it freshens his breath like the actual treats really didn't because he practically swallows them whole. We call it kitty tea.

If you are feeding wet, your cats are probably getting enough water.

Also, flavored water may cause unwanted build up of deposits in the water fountain.

You could try adding some unsalted clam juice to a bowl of water and see if your cats like it.

I fed raw.  When I break down chicken I end up with a fair amount of juice (blood + water).  Ritz loves it.

i clean my cats' fountains (i have 3) every other day. it takes 5 mins each. also, since i clean the fountains so often, don't replace the filters but about every six months, i just thoroghly rinse the old one, so that saves money. if you don't clean the fountains often, you'll see a lot of hair buildup (which you don't want in your drain pipes), plus there will be all that yukky backwash (saliva) buildup. think in terms of if you would drink out of someone elses glass for a week. nope.
