...John and I MUST be crazy. Just got a phone call... "I found four kittens abandoned in my yard, I've been trying to bottle feed them but have a toddler and an infant and just don't have the time for the kittens". Soooo, we'll have four new foster babies around in about 3 1/2 hours or so. She doesn't know how old they are but eyes are open and she said that two of them have been able to potty on their own but the other two still need to be stimulated. She said they're drinking about 4 eye droppers full each per feeding. I'll know more when they get here and of course will post pictures. That will bring our total to 19 foster kittens for a few more weeks anyway.

Just a quick update... the lady called and couldn't make it out this evening because of her children. But as luck will have it, John and I have to go way down into Kentucky tomorrow to pick up another Volkswagen and the lady is going to meet us at the rest stop on the way back (she lives closer to where we're going than where we live). So I'll have updates tomorrow evening!

We're headed out here in about 20 minutes (at 7:30 a.m.). We're supposed to be meeting the guy with the car and parts at 10 a.m. and then heading back up to meet the lady with the kittens. I'm really excited right now, I told John "I'm about to be a mommy again!" Please send good vibes that we'll be safe on our trip, and that we'll arrive to find healthy kittens! The last time we got four bottle babies, we ended up losing two because the lady that tried to care for them said she had no idea what she was doing and the two were pretty far gone when John and I got them and we couldn't save them. So I'm a little nervous right now, hoping they'll all be ok!
Updates when I get back!

Just got back... we have four healthy kittens. I estimate their age to be between 3-4 weeks old. There are two boys and two girls. Two are black and white and two are brown and white tabbies. The lady told me the entire story when I picked them up... apparently she had known the mother cat (who was feral), and she said the mother bred with the neighbor's male who is a Maine Coon. The kittens all seem like they will be shorthaired. We've got some unloading of the truck to do but I'll post pictures when I come inside!

I'm about 6 hours from Chicago... down near Cincinnati. I've actually had quite a few people come down from Chicago to adopt in the past and I'm told it's really not that bad of a drive...

They are adorable...Good Luck with them...People think I am crazy and ask what i am getting out of fostering...I try to explain the feeling that i get when I know that , the poor kitten would have died if I did not take it and hoping to add a permanant family member to someones home. I have six of my own( all rescued) and four foster kittens. they go in for shots and second deworming today. This is my 3rd set so far..ready for the next babies that need help.
