So, we had a double vet appt this morning. Lola had her yearly and Addie had a weigh-in.

Lola first....she's healthy overall. Unfortunately, she's gained 1lb in the last year, because she's a piggy and we've had to free feed to try to pack the weight onto Addie. Still, she's fine, got her shot and her nails clipped, and is back at home feeling fine.

Addie was weighed and has actually lost another 0.02lbs, putting her at 4.78lbs. For those of you who don't know, we've been trying to get her to gain weight after a scary reaction to anasthetic during a spay attempt. She had peaked at 5.3lbs and just won't eat much. Being in heat makes her worse and of course she's in heat a lot at this time of year.

We've pretty much come to the conclusion that we aren't going to be able to get her any fatter, based on the fact that we've tried a whole bunch of things AND she's the spitting image of her tiny mother. So, we figure we're just going to have to go ahead and try spaying again. On that note, the vet has given me the number of a clinic in downtown Toronto who has an on-site veterinary anastethiologist. I'll be calling monday to make an appointment for a consultation.

Anyway, Addie is being her usual self after someone (even her) comes home from the vet. Generally hissing and being cranky to everyone! So, we've set her up with litter, food and water in the dog's crate (which is quite large) until we get home from our errands this afternoon, that way nobody will get too upset. We can't put her in the bedroom anymore, because being in heat makes her pee in inappropriate places.

Just wanted to give you guys an update. Thanks to everyone who has been following Addie's problems and been sending good thoughts!

Here... or There... Hmmm
I'm sorry to hear that she has not put on weight at all. I do hope that they can do the spay for her safely and that will make her much happier. It may also make her put on some weight. Kitters was always really small too (not as small as Addie, but..) after her spay she is now upto 7 lbs! I'm so proud of her. Also.. I don't know if they do this with cats or not but do they have something like they do for very small kids like a drink or formula that is vey high calories to fatten them up? Just thinking outloud kindof! I know they had to put my sisters son on that due to him being so sick when he was born. Either way, I hope that all goes well and we are sending huge good spay for poor Addie!

Thanks for the vibes! She's still cranky 5 hrs later, hissing at everyone. Geez, what a pain. I'm sure the other cats, especially Sam and George who weren't at the vet, and the dog are thinking "What the heck is HER problem?"

We've tried a bunch of different foods plus some pills that are supposed to be appetite stimulants....no luck. They've given us one more wet food to try, but we're not holding our breath. She's a really picky eater and doesn't seem to like wet food much. She also likes to eat in very small servings, so it's annoying because the wet food can't be left out for her to come back to.

I'll let you guys know when I get a consultation with the vet. anasthesiologist.

IA. If you need me, just meow..
Poor pumpkin. She's just not a happy little thing now is she? Hope she's back to normal now.

We went to the vets today also. Isis and Luna got their checkups and Isis got a rabies and distemper shot. Boy were they NOT happy. But over all the vet (new one) says they seem fine and in good health, and they weren't as bad as they usually are, so I think this vet might be our new one.
