Justice, Karma, and a few smart prosecutors

This has been a sad case from the beginning, with little Marcus being murdered by his foster parents. A lot of people around here understood that giving Baker immunity in exchange for her testimony helped put the murderers away, but they were also upset that she got off totally scott free;

Almost!

As it turns out, the bridge where Baker and the little boy's foster parents disposed of the body, fall under the jurisdiction of another state!!!!

Yesterday, the commonwealth of Kentucky lowered the boom on Baker, indicting her on several charges and obtaining her extradition back to Kentucky.

Amy Baker indicted in Commonwealth

Perhaps Marcus can finally rest.

That's fantastic news! I'm glad she'll get her due and spend some time in jail.

I didn't know anything about this case and I've just been reading about it. That poor, poor, sweet child. What a terrible and unthinkable way to die - and his life beforehand was no picnic either. It is so unfair that children in this day and age still experience this kind of abuse.

I feel elated at the news that all three people involved in his traumatic demise will be punished properly for this.

I was very happy when I heard that Kentucky was going to do this. Whatever punishment she gets if she's found guilty won't be enough.

What makes it even more disturbing is that it seems like there are more and more stories of children being abused or killed every single day. There was story here in town not too long ago about a boyfriend beating and stomping on his pregnant girlfriends stomach because she wouldn't get an abortion. I believe he's been charged with murder but don't quote me on that.

Sometimes I wonder what lucky stroke of fate it was that put us at the top of the food chain. We seem unable to conduct ourselves with the honesty, integrity and class of every other animals species out there. I don't know that these things are becoming more common, or if they're just becoming more commonly known about - given our almost impossible-to-circumvent means of communication in the 21st century.

It's good that we know, but then, sometimes ignorance is bliss. It really is
