I'm really not liking this ad!

Today when I clicked into my yahoo mail, there is a side ad for a car company.

It's slogan:

"Just because you have money, doesn't mean you have to waste it"

While it's showing a picture of a beautiful shaded silver persian!

I really don't consider having a cat a waste of anything especially money! Don't think I'll ever buy a car from that company.

Wow, that is lame... It isnt even funny! Gosh sometimes advertising is just weak... I dont think I noticed that one in my yahoo mail today! Please... LMAO most cats last longer than cars do! Now what hehe?

I would be e-mailing them and telling them how insulting they were, along with what people waste their money on has "NAFF ALL" to do with them!!

Ok it may not do anything but it would make me feel better

I know several people in my personal life who felt that I wasted money on buy Simba for as much as I did. They think I should have gone to the shelter and picked up a low cost kitten rather than pay all of that money to get a Bengal.

Yeah opinions are just that... Opinions. I think you getting simba was well worth it... gorgeous is all I can say. Id rather pay extra for a little love bug than something that is merely material and a money pit (all cars are).

You really can't win. No matter what you use, somebody's going to be offended. Obviously a blank picture isn't a very attractive ad. Also obviously, lots of people have cats and will be put off. So somebody made a bad choice. Maybe nobody in their lives has cats. I don't think it's really worth getting too upset about something like that. Click and it's gone.

I know the feeling - a lot of people think I was silly bringing Peedoodle and Kahu to NZ - but they don't understand how much those cats mean to me - I can not just give them up like they were possessions.

That tv ad can go stuff itself.

There are lots of ways to waste money. Perhaps they should have used drugs, or booze or cigarettes or a slot machine as the example instead of a cat?

Yes, that's true. But I feel that they should not compare spending money on something material opposed to spending money on a living being. There's no basis for comparison there.

I saw a commercial on TV from that ad campaign. There were lots of flashes of extravagant things. When they showed the Persian, it was getting primped on a pillow. I took it to mean that it was criticizing the attitude of some rich and/or eccentric people who use their pets as accessories and/or take better care of them than they would their staff (the ones that get solid gold, diamond studded collars). I didn't take it to mean the cat breed itself.

Now I haven't seen the computer ad, so I could be wrong about it, or the ad doesn't adaquately make clear its intentions.
