how to tell if your kitten is sick?

I just got a new kitten. She's so cute and I love her so much! I've always wanted and kitten. Just never been able to get one before. This is all new to me. I got her a week ago tomorrow. She's seemed fine no problems. Last night tho she started sneezing, alot. She normally sleeps with me but last night she slept on the floor. Now today that's all she is doing...sleeping. Is that normal? I'm sure not. I am house sitting for my parents and will be going to my home tomorrow. My mother has 4 birds here and 3 dogs. She usually plays with the dogs but not today. Have any ideas on what is wrong with my new fur baby??

Sounds like she may have an URI (upper respiratory infection). She should be seen by a vet who will probably prescribe antibiotics.

Welcome to TCS!!! This happend when I got my kitten too (a few days after I got her)! I took her to the vet (as well as my other kitty who started sneezing) and they gave her amoxicillin to clear up any possible URI. They didnt confirm that it was an actual URI but gave both kitties antibiotics just to be safe. Either way for the sake of your kitty and for piece of mind take her to the vet Congrats on your first kitty

I just brought my kitten to the vet today for an URI. He had a runny nose and was sneezing like crazy. The vet gave me some Clavamox, I think it was called to give him 2 x a day for 2 weeks. Best thing is to bring him into the vet and get him on antibiotics. YOu don't want it turning into pnemonia. Good luck!
