Well, all of the babies in the litter were either spayed or neutered today - even momma!

Everything has been fine - up til now when the vet is closed!

Is it common for a kitten to throw up after being spayed? She is also VERY sleepy compared to the others. Is this something I should try and find a 24 hour vet for?

I have never had a cat throw up after being spayed, at least not directly caused from being spayed.

Female cats generally have a longer recover time than males and all of my female cats were very lazy for awhile after being spayed. Every cat is different though. If one female is running around like normal and the other one is taking it easy, it doesn't mean there is something wrong with the less active cat.

As long as the kitten isn't constantly throwing up and she isn't dehydrated, she should be fine. I am not a vet though so I can't be sure. If you are worried about it, you can call an emergency vet and explain the symptoms and they will tell you whether or not you need to bring the cat in.

Sorry - I am a panicky foster mommy! I did call a vet and they said it was more than likely an after effect from the anesthetic combined with the pain meds they gave her.

She has not been sick since last night so I think we are in the free and clear!

Thanks for your responses.

I was thinking it could be the anesthetic. My Daphne gave me an interesting time with her spay. I hope all your girls heal quickly and easily
from another panicky meowmy.

I was thinking that too, although I wouldn't be sure enough to give that as advice. I know whenever my grandmother comes out of anesthesia, she can't hold anything down for HOURSSSSS....it's a big side effect with a lot of humans, so why not cats too?

I'm so glad she's doing better!!!1
