I have been a cat lover all my life, we had cats when I was a child in England. I have been in the United States for 22 years, since I was 22, ok ok nobody do the math! Anyway, after 20 years of marriage to a horrible man who actually shot all of my cats that I had on the farm, even one I had raised on a bottle! I have met the man of my dreams who actually loves cats the way I do, that is not his only quality, he is kind, tough (he looks like a bouncer), intelligent, thoughtful and has enough self confidence that he doesn't have to have an animal around that obeys his word, he actually likes a cats "fetch your own damn stick" attitude. Pssst I'm guessing he loves our cat more than I do! Anyway, I had struggled to get myself situated after a bad divorce ( I came out broke) and had my own place, car, job. I didn't want to ever have anything in my life again that I could lose, I had lost my horse, house, farm, everything and it hurt too much (oops forgot to say husband)

I met Rob after two years of being along and repairing my broken self. For the first month of dating I broke out in hives because I was fallilng for him. I resisted like a crazy woman, now we are engaged. I worked in the city and there was a fellow cat lover who had found a stray at Taco Bell (hence the name Bella), she is pure grey. This friend at work had her fixed, shots, and all the trimmings, but could not keep her because she doesnt like other cats, so I took her in. She is spoilt to death and we now could not be without her. She is the most amazing cat! She walks on a leash, we take her to the vet on a leash and she is perfectly happy to sit in the waiting room checking everyone out. The vetinary assistants could not believe how calm she was! She is so interested in new surroundings, the first time she walked into the apartment, she was at home, no hiding in a dark place for a week for Bella!

We both understand that a cat has a certain mysticism. Like they know stuff we do not. I have always had an affinity for cats, if I said they are my familiar, you all would think that I am crazy, but when you come outside to your car and the 5 stray cats of the area that usually scatter when anyone is around and wont let you withing 20 feet of them, are all sitting around your car refusing to move, you know they are trying to tell you something. That night, one of the boyfriends I had, packed his bags and left, at my request, due to me finding out he was doing drugs! (you would have thought I had learned my lesson) Then two years later, I come out of the house, to find cats all around my car, I stopped dead in my tracks and went cold, I knew something was about to happen, they were there to warn me, that night, I stopped at the mail box and there was a letter in the mail from a State Prison from that same guy, had not heard a word for 2 years and then a letter out of the blue! I often wonder if anyone else has this kind of thing happen. Oh and before you say that my fiance just says he loves cats to make me happy, he is the one that found this site and signed us up!

Hello! Welcome to TCS!
Isn't it wonderful to find a man that loves cats? My husband has always been a cat person. I actually grew up a dog person. My family always had a cat, but I never really fell hard for them until I got a kitten that I lost at 7wks old to FELV and then Smuckers, shortly after, when I was 17. I lost her 2yrs ago. You'll find her story on the forum in another thread. To make a long story short, I didn't want another cat after her and didn't have one for 2yrs until recently. Now don't get me wrong, I always liked cats, but I hadn't had one to grab me like those two did. Anyway, when we decided to get another cat, I said one, well, then it was two, then three.
Anyway, the two kittens that are pictured in my signature (Thalia and Hecate) were brought home by him.
Lucy is actually a foster, but being a 4yr old Tortie, her chances of getting adopted aren't too good in this area...not right now anyway. Looking forward to seeing pictures.

Hello & welcome to the forum. Wow, what a story. I've had cats & dogs all my life. My 15 yo torty has lived next door with my mum for a no. of yrs, so I thought I was now more of a dog person. I'm secretary of a dog obedience club & have instructed for 11 yrs.
Nine & a half months ago my son brought home a 3 w/o kitten he'd seen being dumped in a canal. My dog had an appointment at the vets the next day, so I thought I'd take Blossom to them as they adopt out cats & kittens. They couldn't take her for 5 weeks, so I hand raised her.
Needless to say, I couldn't part with her. Now we wouldn't be without her, even though she's the wildest, naughtiest kitten I ever remember having.
Look forward to hearing all about your kitty.

Welcome! (Even though I am new too)

This website is filled with wonderful people, great information, and its fun too!

My Hubby didn't used to like cats before we met, but he just didn't understand them. He used to be a dog person, then I got him to see how great cats are. Now, we have a family full of felines, and we are all happy as ever!

Good Luck with Everything!
