The first is a 22wk spayed female, who was purchased from a non-certified breeding home and is half papered bengal-half tabby. She was brought into my home at 13wks and was the only animal here. She has one of the sweetest demeanors and has been gentle, trusting and very well behaved.

The other is a 10wk Full Breed (F6) Bengal. He was brought into my home at only 7wks (a mistake and long story nontheless), when the female was 19wks. He is going to be a big boy and already weighs 3lbs. His temperment is much different. He loves to play rough, pouncing on everything and tearing any toys into a million pieces. He is very sweet as well, but his playing is already on a totally different level than the female.

The introduction of the two has been rough. She was not happy to have him join us, and as this is my first time as an adult to have cats, I just threw them together without much introduction. I know, a mistake on my part. They get along just fine now (3weeks later), except for one issue.....

He has found that his favorite past time is pouncing on her and does so in a very rough manner. Im not sure she understands this as playing. Her response includes hissing and growling, ears back and tail twitching, but no claws AND at times she even instigates it! Coupled with this though is the fact that she no longer romps through the house in any playful manner, rather she sits on a high perch, where he can not get, and sleeps all day...a complete change in her behavior.

I would appreciate any help or thoughts on how to find a symbiosis between the two.

Regards.

Sounds like my two - Ling is 2 yrs old, Charlie 10 months old. He wants to be boss and almost constantly is picking on Ling (with the same kind of reactions).

Females tend to be more resentful of new cats. Males accept new cats quicker.

Is the little male neutered? If not, he needs to be done by 3-4 months old.

He's exhibiting typical kitten play especially for a male. You will need to separate them (maybe till he's neutered) and then reintroduce them slowly following some of the tips in here for introductions.
