Hi! I haven't been on this site in a while--since my other female had a false pregnancy about 3 months ago. She ended up going through labor, expelling all of her fluid, but contracted an infection and needed to be spayed right away.

Well, I just took in another calico...a fellow coworker had been feeding her and was being threatened with eviction if he didn't get rid of her. His landlady even said she was going to trap her and call animal control.
He asked if I could take her in and I said I would as long as she appeared healthy. I took her and when I got her home, I noticed her belly was a little extended. Then I could feel her nipples. When I took her to the vet for an exam 2 days later, he confirmed she would be giving birth in 2-3 weeks. It's been 2 weeks. We're very excited about having kittens, although I'm going to hate to have to get rid of them. The mom is very sweet and I'm glad I made the right choice. It took her a few days to warm up to us and she's still a little skittish, but she finally started playing with toys and exhibiting "normal" cat behavior. And she likes to sit on the living room floor and sprawl out with her big belly.

I'm reading the threads about cat birthing and getting myself ready. I'll be out of town for a few days and I certainly hope she doesn't decide to deliver them when I'm gone! I replaced the cat litter with an all natural corn litter, because I've read that the litter will make the babies sick if she happens to deliver in the box. I'm hoping she opts for the nice padded box I made her!
