Couldn't have happened to a "better" guy, IMO.

There IS justice in this world.

This made my day, it really did. Thanks V.

can we deport him someplace else.

I so wish. His ethics of pretending to be American Indian when he is a white male who never experienced any oppression just is horrible. And he wouldn't be in this trouble if he hadn't conducted his business in this manner. He can say it was the free speech issue all he wants, but he handed them all of the appropriate reasons to get rid of him.

I just caught up on who he is. I have to say I'm glad he got fired, but I have a feeling he's not going to go quietly.

He isn't. The lawsuits will be filed today. I really hope the courts see that he is a hack scholar and shouldn't be reinstated.

Then he conducted a Native American ceremony after the verdict.

Yeah, they seem to think that he will fare better in front of a jury. I guess you'd have to be a real yokel not to know about this guy, but I can't even see them being able to seat an impartial jury.

9news.com has a poll - Do you agree with the decision to fire Ward Churchill? I realize this is not a scientific poll, but the results are telling:

Yes: 4654 Votes
No: 692 Votes
No Opinion: 203 Votes

I've never heard of him. Who is he?

He was a professor at the University of Colorado. He came to the national spotlight by publishing an essay that stated all of the people who were associated with the financial industry and died in the 9/11 attacks were "little Eichmanns," comparing them to Nazi bureaucrat Adolf Eichmann.

This in itself would not have been a fireable offense as he was a tenured professor. But when he attracted all of this attention, people started to look for a reason to get rid of him. And they found it. He plagarized much of his work. He would publish essays under other people's name's and then refer to these essays in his work to support his work. He makes historical claims that conflict with all records and all other scholars.

Here's a link that outlines all of the charges.

Plus he misrepresented himself as being part Native American and that was untrue. Wasn't he, like, Director of Native American Studies or something that required the Professor to have, at least, SOME, Native American blood.

He was made the chairman of the ethnic-studies department. He believes that because he says he has a Native American heritage he shouldn't have to prove it. No way, no how does he have a clue what the true challenges are faced by the Native American population in this country. He is just taking advantage of things.

I have seen him on film and he is, absolutely, the most arrogant, pompous, cocky man I have EVER seen. He would swagger around like, "No one can touch ME, I am Ward Churhill"

Karma got him.

Didn't he break the leader of the American Indian Movement's wrist after she renounced his honorary native-ness?

Not a surprise at all! A few years ago he came to our college to speak right after he made the nazi/ 9/11 comments. This was before his plagerism stuff came out and they still let him speak, but had SAWT teams there to prevent a possible riot. Nothing happened, but they were prepared.

WOW, great link, thanks. I did NOT know that.
I bet there are many people that are happy to see him go down that predates the dumb 9-11 comments.

Wow... what a !

I really don't feel bad about this guy getting fired. At all.

EDIT: Do you know how hard it is to fire a tenured professor at a major university? You have to TRY. Really hard.

I heard one of the Regents say yesterday that an aligory for the situation is someone getting pulled over for expired plates, but then the cops find other stuff that's illegal inside the car when they shine the flashlight in. While Churchill wants to claim that it's all about that one essay he wrote, that just opened up the can of worms and made people take a closer look at his scholarly research. He's a liar and a fraud, and yet he still maintains he's 100% correct in everything he says or does.

He's all about the 1st Amendment when it comes to his rights, but no on better say anything against him.

Didn't you just love the supporters claim that CU couldn't do anything about these charges because they were "fruit of the poisoned tree"? This information was not obtained under an illegal search and seizure. They really don't have a clue of reality.

Besides, all anyone had to do was do a peer review of one of his works and they'd know. What a con-artist! If I took one of his classes I'd demand my money back!

He was voted the "Best Professor" in 2005 by his students. Young liberal students have poor judgment at times.

Professors like Ward Churchill are indoctrinating our youth to be America "haters" and haters of Capitalism. Socialism here we come, It's scary.

I am sooo glad they got him. I can't believe he had his girlfriend beat up that AIM grandma and spit in her face. How could anyone defend that?
