Sorry for your loss
You're not weird - the relief is probably coming from the fact you know he is no longer suffering.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom passed away one year ago, and I felt exactly the same way. I think they are letting us know that they are at peace and we should be at ease. Take the time you need to grieve; it may hit you harder later on.

QUOTE=CarolPetunia;1897802]I think Sibohan is right. The relief you feel is a reflection of your dad's relief and peace of mind... accept it as a gift from him, and know that he rests in peace.

Beautifully said....
I send condolences to your family.

Well here is a little update: We had the viewings yesterday, and the funeral was this morning, all went well/ Mom is doing just fine and so is my brother and the rest of the family. We all confided in each other that we felt relief because he wasn't suffering anymore. But what is funny is we keep saying things like I'm gonna tell Dad this or that, or when we were at my moms house eating I got a plate to fix dad some food!! This is really awful though: I had my phone set to vibrate whlie at the funeral and it statred to vibrate during the service. I got the giggles, and while trying to supress the laughter a few tears rolled down my cheeks, so they all just thought I was crying! ( I try not to cry in front of people at ALL costs, it is just not my way I have to be the strong one)But we are doing well and i thank all of you for your gifts, prayers and condolences. You are all awesome!

Even though our minds understand when a loved one is gone...
our spirit just can't quite acknowledge it for awhile.
Only time will ease that.

My condolences to you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. It can be a difficult time.
I understand the feelings of relief you have. After watching my FIL suffer for years with cancer we all felt the same way. Its tough no matter when it happens. For us it was compounded, a week prior to his death we lost my DH's 26 year old neice and then his father died on Christmas Eve, tha same day as her funeral.

One thing we learned is life gives us chalenges and we ned to face them no matter how hard. Just knowing th epain is over helps with the pain of the loss.

May your father now rest in peace.
