Hi all I am new here (just found the site yesterday! lol) and I have 2 new furry additons to our family just 3 weeks ago! One cat (momma, Oreo) is about 1.5/2 yrs old, the other kitten (baby, Merlin) is 9 weeks old.
Well, the kids have been playing the cats "to death" since we got them, and Oreo pretty much sleeps either : 1 under our bed, on top of our bed with the bedroom door closed or 2 under my desk WAAAY in the corner so the kids can't get to her! lol
Last night while I was *trying* to sleep, Oreo crawled up my body, smelled my face, then lightly licked my cheek 3 times! I was thrilled but didn't move! Didn't want to spook her. Well, then a little while later she came up 2 more times to my face, so I pet her and she just puuuurrrred like crazy! I almost cried! She hadn't purred since we got her!
Well, JUST NOW, she climbed up in my window (has a good size ledge) and she is sitting there sleeping at the moment! I am soooooo happy! I guess she feels comfortable enough finally to sleep out in the open with the kids around! I really sat them down today and explained how cats are just like us and need respect just like us, etc, and I think they really got it! So, they haven't been all over the cats like they have been! yay! I am WAY too excited!
Why is it the sillies things make us sooo happy?
