I am planning on switching all 3 of my cats to wet food. I know I have to do it gradually, but exactly how much. I opened a can yesterday and gave each cat a little less than a teaspoon to see if they liked it, in which all did thank goodness! I did the same today. How long do I do that until totally switching? All advice is appreciated!

Welcome Winter. Hmmm I myself feed a combo of wet and dry food. I know with dry they say make it gradual over a week or 2 but I always just switched over to the new stuff no gradual period. I never had an issue.

Either just switch straight over to wet only and increase the amount of wet you are feeding. Say from the teaspoon you are currently feeding to 1/4-1/2 can per cat 2 times a day. Or just every other day increase the amount of wet per feeding and decrease the amount of dry that is out.

I just received a very long document on the topic from a yahoo group that I belong to. It's about 17 pages long and too large to post here. If you PM me your e-mail address, I will forward it onto you.

I will admit that it was written as a somewhat bash against Science Diet, but was still very informative. It was authored by a vet.
