The model names and styles might be a bit confusing but one thing we do know for sure....
They all suck

Ahhh ok
Only the DC15 is "The Ball". We have the ball and we only realised the ball is becoming less common. I have no idea why - I haven't tried a non-ball, but I thought the point of the Ball was to make it easier to push (which ours is).

Welcome to the world of Dyson!

Isn't it the greatest?? I have had mine for awhile now and I am still amazed at how much cat hair it picks up after each vacuming. I must have had enough today for another cat and that was a weeks worth of cat hair. Thank Goodness this is a new house or I'd be in trouble!

I will never do without a Dyson again! They are wonderful!

I am trying to talk my DH into a Dyson. he asked why I care what type we have as he does all of the vaccuuming. I told him I was tired of him complaining about all of the cat fur and that it would help. Unfortunately my DH is the stereotypical "cheap Scotsman".

One day......

I'm still wanting one after trying my brother's last month. It's just kind of hard to justify, though, when my Oreck's still fairly new.

You know it's interesting because I asked my dog forum if the Dyson was worth the money. Most said no. Maybe it does good for cat hair but not on dog hair?

btw for those that want one but can't afford to put out the 500 bucks all at once check out Fingerhut. They have reasonable payment plants.

It cost close to $700 in Canada (probably over $700 when you factor in the tax). Considering how close the Canadian and US dollar is right now - I can't believe that they haven't adjusted the Canadian prices.

I have two Orecks, which are unfortunately too new to replace. I was somewhat happy with them initially, but their cleaning capacity has taken a noticeable drop...especially on the darker colored throw rugs with cat hair on them. There's usually an Oreck rep at the Portland Trade Show giving demonstrations. I'd love to drag one of my rugs in and say "Here, demo this!"

If I was certain a Dyson would clean them and keep on cleaning them, I'd spend the money. What I need is someone I know to buy one so I can test it.

I have a Dyson 14 now. I probably shouldn't tell you guys this cause you're gonna want to kill me but I bought mine off EBay- for less than $200.

It's brand new just missing one attachment.

We purchased a Dyson (purple with a ball) after we got our cats. Since hubby's allergic to cats, I was adamant about vacuuming once a week. He is a big time couch potato and thinks if the carpet 'looks clean' then it doesn't need to be vacuumed. He wants to get a Dyson to make his only job around the house easier. Needless to say we were impressed- the old vacuum is powerful and does the job fine but compare to Dyson is a different story. We use Dyson 3 days after vacuuming with the old one and were both surprised at the amount of cat hair it picks up. It's pricey but hey, he's vacuuming every week like he promised! Now he's telling everyone that 'Dyson saved my marriage'.

When my sister had her German Shepherd she bought a Dyson and it brought up so much dog hair she felt her house was filthy!

So, yes it works on dog hair as well

Susan...my friend Kara has 2 large Golden Retriever dogs.
They left dog hair everywhere....
She is the person who almost forced me to get a Dyson when I was looking for a new vac.
She loves her Dyson....
Yes...it does work on dog hair.

I wonder why they didn't like it them? No matter I just bought a new Dirt devil. I do not have the $ to invest right now anyway.
