Like what???

What did you guys think of the epilogue????

There are a lot of people that loved it, hated it, or think it was an after thought.

Amen on this one... The only thing that I would had loved to see was him Kill Bellatrix, since she tortured his parents.. But all fair in war.. Mrs. Wesley did a bang up job with her... I loved it when she cursed at her,, Beautiful!!!! A mother's rage!!!

I don't think it was an after thought.. I in fact enjoyed having the epilogue.. It's really felt like a closure to me.. I wished it was more in depth then it was,, but it answered the questions that needed answering.. IE.. Ron and Hermione, and Ginny and Harry, and Draco, and Neville..

Though the kids names were a little well strange,, but I understood where they came from... and their importance.

One thing I was really curious about was what happened to the Dursley's and something I was more curious about was I was kind of expecting an exlanation of the veil that Sirius fell through. But all in all I was really happy with the closure and the book in its entirety. Im sad that there will be no more. J.K. really made it clear that there will be no more.

I agree I would had liked an explanation on the veil that Sirius fell through.. But he definately is dead based on the stone Harry carried to die against voldemort. The Dursley's was another one, I liked to had more info on..
as well as what happened and how Lupin and Tonks kid did without parents...

JK could really take on a whole new persona of books based on after hogwarts and the wizarding families, and how they got to gether, and deal with learning their craft and so forth... Too bad, she won't do more.

I loved the last 5 chapters or so. At one point (I'll have to go back and re-read to remember where) I actually got goosebumps. I thought all the loose ends were tied up nicely; even the ones that proved that Dumbledore was, after all, human.

A lot of the end reminded me of C.S. Lewis' Narnia books. Or maybe just the last one (The Last Battle). I stayed up very late and now can't remember all the things I was thinking, LOL.

Also, do you think there was any significance to the battle between Dumbledore and Grindelwald being the approximate time as the end of the Second World War?

I definitely saw a lot of relation to Grindelwald being a Hitlerish sort of person, in both time and style. Wasn't "For the greater good" one of his mottos? Also Krum being Eastern European and his strong hatred for Grindelwald. The implication that Grindelwald wreaked havok over on the continent, and had his sites aimed at the UK.

As for Hedwig, I was sad when she died, but they really didn't make enough of a deal about it. If it was my beloved pet that kept me company through many many hours of torture at the Dursley's, I would probably not have taken it as well as Harry.

I also really liked how in his defeat of Voldermort at the end, Harry was a very strong person. He no longer seemed the meek boy accidentally thwarting V's plans, but actually a warrior, a true Gryffindor and a brave hero for all to see.

I would have loved to see some sweet revenge on Rita Skeeter though, perhaps her spending eternity at St. Mungos or something. It is kind of ironic that a lot of her story about Dumbledore was based in some truth.

There's more I can think of, but I keep forgetting. I already want to go back and read all the books all over again, so I can refresh my memory on a lot of things.

I finished the book on Monday. I usually reread previous ones to refresh my memory prior to any new release of HP book. I couldn't bring myself to reread Half-Blood Prince because I was still too upset at Dumbledore's death. Love the book and the ending. I've always believed Snape is on Dumbledore's side. I was disappointed the author didn't bring Sirius back- she never said he's dead, just that he fell through the veil. I also don't like she killed Tonk & Remus.

Actually she has said that she might write another but only for charity purposes and doesn't plan on it for a long time if she does do so.

People change their minds too. Give her a few years and maybe she will think of a good story for either grown up Harry or his kids. If the story comes to her, I can't see why she wouldn't want to write it. But I can see her saying that she isn't going to pursue it.

I just finished the book.. stayed up an hour later than normal to do it! I liked the ending. I have long suspected that Harry was one of the horcruxes. I did not think Snape was evil, but I thought that Dumbledore's death was faked also.. right on one, wrong on the other.

I would've liked to see Neville kill Bellatrix too. I was glad for the wrap-up at the end of the book, but I wished it contained a bit more information.. mainly things like: What they are all doing for a living? Did Neville marry? Who became Headmaster of Hogwarts?
It raised more questions for me than answers, but I was grateful for the wrap-up anyway.

The ending to the series really disappointed me. Everything was tied up well, and it flowed at a good pace(except when they were all stuck in the forest for what felt like five hundred pages).

So. Imagine that you've grown up for eleven years of your life, ignored, unappreciated, little more than a pebble in your guardian's shoe. Suddenly, you find out that you're actually exceptional, that you can do magic, and oh, by the way, you're famous among this new community and half the people adore you simply because you're you.

Then, say, you find out that the evil guy who made you famous has come back, and it's pretty much determined that, man, you're gonna face down. Because you're just that cool. You are the boy who lived, and damn it, it's predetermined you're going to kick his ass, or at least fight him.

For years, you go on grand adventure after grand adventure, finding out exceptional things about yourself left and right, getting lucky and finding you have rare skills, facing adversity and basilisks and coming out shining.

Then, one day, you defeat sir evil Wizard. You've just been through a harrowing and exciting journey--and the excitement ends.

Now.. after all that.. who REALLY thinks that Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ronald Weasley are going to be able to settle down and live dull, boring lives raising silly children? Honestly?

Heros are cursed from the start of their grand adventure. Whether they live or die, they never, never really win.

I mean, honestly--what actually compares to saving the entire frickin' world? What the heck are you supposed to do with yourself after this grand purpose that was thrust upon you is fulfilled?

She might as well have ended it with "And they lived Happily Ever After". Typical.

I just finished reading it - I read it very slowly because I wanted to grasp every bit of information that I could.

I loved the ending, the battle - especially Neville. I grew a soft spot for him over the course of the story and his killing Nagini was symbolic of his coming of age as a wizard. His grandmother would be so proud!

I was extremely saddened by the death of Fred - the twins were my favourite - I just loved them.

It was great that Dudley had that interaction with Harry - I think he realised that Harry would not let anything happen to him after the attack by the Dementors.

I think the book was a fitting closure to the series. I knew that he would end up with Ginny. I would love to know what happened to Luna. She was lovely. And it really touched me that Albus's middle name was Severus. I wish that Harry and Snape had really gotten to know each other without the pressure of protection. So now I understand why Harry having Lily's eyes were so important.

I am extremely satisfied. Now I can get on with life!

I've got a question...it is my assumption that Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot & Prongs were all Gryffindors.

WHAT ON EARTH did Peter Pettigrew ever do to deserve Gryffindor???

I just love the fact that my husband hasn't finished the book yet. He's racking his brain on who had the Doe as a Patronis!

It's great to see him so involved in something that isn't WoW related.

You know, I don't know where that was ever revealed about the Patronus. Do you know which book?

There was a certain point I ALMOST stopped reading. I just didn't think I could handle it. But then I looked at how many pages were left, and figured there had to be more to it. Glad I stuck it out.

And yeah, the death count is really high in this one. Of course it had to be. It would be unrealistic if it wasn't. But doesn't make it any easier.
yes, the middle was really long but necessary

the battle is where my blood started pumping and couldn't really put it down.

yeah, he was definitely scarier this time around. the last chapter/epilogue could have been left out IMHO. . .very cheesy...overly symbolic. too much name dropping - who's this, who's kid, how many kids?

i was pretty upset about that. he was so brave until the end. at least he gave harry his memories....

that was pretty sad, not as bad as snape. and teddy, i thought FOR SURE he was going to be raised by harry.

it was great to see him grow over the series. i want to read them all again and make all the connections in the beginning of the series...

it really was a great battle. no longer the scrawny little boy from the first book.
