I have trouble with my cat. What he do is he go to bathroom and make a crap. Problem is my cat do it in the corner not in cat box. So I put the cat box there, he crap next to cat box. Then what I do is I get spare carpet place it in corner. Then he crap next to carpet. So I put cardboard down he just tear it up. Then crap in my bedroom. What should I do about this problem?

Sorry if I don't make to much sense because English is not my first language.

any help would be nice thank you.

From your post I'm assuming you only have one litter box?
A lot of cats prefer to pee in one box and poo in a seperate box.

Beyond that, I'd say he needs to see a vet to make sure he isn't trying to tell you he doesn't feel well.

Get him to a vet and if the vet rules out any illness, there are a few things you can do.

Try changing the type of litter; I use World's Best and find it great. Cat Attract is one I've seen recommended here before. You could also get a bigger box as it may be too small for him. As Arlyn suggested, 2 litter boxes may be needed. Is the litter deep enough so that he can bury sufficiently? If the box is covered maybe take the lid off as some cats don't like the covered ones.

In my own world, its much nicer there
Take him to the vet, is a good start. Then you need to clean the area where he goes toilet, I would generally use a disinfectant to get rid of the smell, I find that a strong Pine scented stops the cat using the same place again. Other members here maybe able to recommend better cleaning agents.

Hope your cat doesn't have any serious problems.

How big is the box? What kind of litter are you using. Is he the only cat in the house? Have you taken him to a vet to have him checked out physically?

21 yrs old? He's not going to get 'better'. He's lost his mind like old people can do. Please stop trying to re-train him as it won't work. You need to confine him to one room (with no carpet, no shoes, clothes, etc., but a soft place to sleep (maybe you can cover it with plastic and throw away or rinse off the plastic every day). You should go into the room a lot and be very nice to him - make sure it's warm in the room as old cats (like old people) get cold easily. Talk to him, pet him, just be happy he's still alive, and forgive him for the mess - he can't help it. Just feed him what he wants and make sure he has water all the time.

I'm going to suggest you buy a larger litter box. I'm looking at several shoe boxes now and when I put 2 together, I imagine that the litter box you have at the moment, is too small.

Your cat is 21 years old? so he is elderly, maybe losing control of himself. This is where you are going to feel tested by your cat as a responsible pet owner. You need to realize that he is old, is going to have accidents and you will have to clean up after him. You simply should not get rid of him or get a new cat because you think he is an inconvenience.

Please do be patient with your cat, he is leading a good life. It would be such a shame if you give up on him now. As suggested earlier, give him, his own room now, to reduce the area of your house,

WOW-21 years old! That is amazing! Do you have a picture?

He might not have control of his bladder anymore-did the vet check that? Please don't get rid of him, he loves you. If you gave hom to the shelter they would put him to sleep since no one adopts old cats.

If I were you I would make him his own room, no carpet or any type of fabric for that matter. I would make the room as easy to clean up as possible, and only let him stay in there with is toys, box, food, and water-and let him live his life out with me. Cats get very attached to their owners, I am 90% positive that he wouldn't do so good if you just gave him away....

Good luck with your cat!

the vet say he is alright. no picture i have no camera. i dont want to lose my cat i like him. he purr when i see him curl in my lap. he eat very good too. i talk to vet to day she say that he is just very old. i get new cat box very big. i take big box from fridge then i cut it so it like cat box.

i dont have extra room for my cat so i will just clean after him. i like feed my cat by hand with boiled chicken breast the vet say this help him stay health but i dont know why i am not vet.

i get extra fine cat litter maybe this will help some. i tell you all the next day alright.

My last cat was 22 yrs old. At about 21 she started going all over too. I changed her food, but I can't remember what it was! The vet recomended it because she was so old. It helped her a lot!! That was the only time I had any potty problems with her.

She had kidney problems. They couldn't fix it, but the food they told me to get worked, (most of the time
