There is a 98 year old man across the street from me. He is known as the street historian since he has lived on this street for the last 90 years!!!!!

When we moved here last July, he was the first to welcome us and told us all about the history of our home. Our house is a schoolhouse that was moved from another location to here back in the 1920's. He remembers everything and told us about the day they moved it etc.

To make a long story short, an ambulance took him away last week. There was no word on his condition, but considering his age I thought this was the end.

BUT, he just came home today!!!! And he was walking on his own two feet! I've been so worried about him, that this just made my Christmas! No more gifts are necessary, for this was the gift that I wanted.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!! I won't be on anymore till after Christmas. Enjoy!!

What a nice surprise for you and for him too. Does he live alone? I hope at his age, the answer is no.

I think it's great that this 98 year old man is still able to live in his own home, but I also agree with Hissy, hopefully, someone else lives there too!!!!

Oh Kassandra! You just have a heart of gold!!!!! That is so sweet of you to care so much about this man...I wish there were more people like you in this world!!!!
I am so happy this man is okay and will be here for another Christmas!!!! I can't imagine living so long!!! My grandpa was about 96 when he died, and the stories he could tell!!! I just loved listening to them!!!! It was like being there, and made me feel so much more in touch with the past!!!!

Actually Hissy, he does live alone. He was married twice and both wives have already passed away. But, his circumstance is totally different than another older person living on there own.

He has a *huge* family and his brother who is 85 lives one street over and visits daily. There is someone visiting or staying over at his place almost every other hour. The community also checks in with him. He is very fortunate to have such a huge support network.

I thought I would mention another comment that I laughed at. He told me in the summer that he was driving till he was 95. He passed all his tests but he figured that an old guy like him should keep still.

He's a very unique soul!
