we had bought some (that I thought would be good) but I think they aren't sharp enough - they don't cut the claw cleanly and leaves jagged edges.

so what brand do you have - links appreciated.

I don't know the brand, but here is a link to the kind I use. The one on the right, with the black handle? I like it better than the bigger one, gives you more control. Also as the article says keep a stypic stick nearby just in case.
