Sophia is 9 months old now and she won't get out of the habit of attacking my feet under the covers. She has stopped from doing it from when I go to bed. Now she pounces at least an hour before my alarm goes off, then crawls into bed next to me, all nice and sweet, then goes back to the foot attack!! I keep a water pistol by the bed and whenever I grab it she runs, only to return 5 minutes later to do the same thing! I'm real sensitive to having my feet touched, let along having them pounced on, so if anybody has any suggestions, i'm open to them!
HELLLLLLP!!!

Hahahaha...I know you're not laughing but this cracks me up.
Two of my cats used to to do this too constantly, but it never bothered me. It's just their way of playing. They don't do it nearly as much now that they're older (1 1/2 years) so I imagine your kitty will also do it less and less with time. Sorry, I don't have any real advice on how to get her to stop, but I'm sure someone else will.

This is kinda hard during the summer, but my cat does this and I just put an extra blanket over my feet so when he attacks them his claws can't get through and it doesn't hurt me.

When I started allowing Twinkie to sleep with me he did this at first. Every time he did it he got tossed off the bed. He wants to be on the bed, so he learned pretty quick that if he wanted to stay there he wasn't to attack my feet. I also taught him to sleep on my right side, as I get out of bed to my left, and at first he wanted to sleep there, which made it hard to get out of bed. Cats can learn to do it your way providing you're consistent and they have a motive.

Luna does this too sometimes.(not sure if Sherman does, as he's not allowed to sleep w/ me yet. They're still getting used to each other). I then put extra blankets on so it's too thick and eventually she gets bored and goes away. Or I stop moving my feet and she gets bored. Luna does the same thing w/ the spray bottle too, it only seemed to teach her to run away when I picked it up....
Sorry I don't have any better advice.

Thank you to the two of you with the extra blanket idea. I live in SouthFlorida where it's positively HOT and the thought of putting an extra blanket on my feet was a suggestion my husband made, which I poo-poo'd at the time, but at this point, I really think I'll have to do it and HOPE she'll get bored.

It's fortunate that none of mine have ever been hurt by this: when something lands on my feet at night when I'm asleep, my spontaneous reaction to it is to kick, and in the process I wake myself up so notice that I've launched a cat after the fact. I don't recommend doing this. My cats have not attacked my feet in bed for a looooooong time.

I agree with the extra blanket. When weather permits, I actually do that to prevent myself from hurting a cat by accident.

A CAT LAUNCH? I'm cracking up! Well, the first time she did it I did just spontaneously kick my feet because I can't handle having them touched, which made her land on the floor with the most startled look on her face. I felt sooooo bad and had to cuddle her afterwards. She doesn't understand that it hurts. I mean, for all she knows, there's a moving toy under the covers--not human feet!

Saedie does this every night and every morning. She doesn't really use her claws so it doesn't hurt me. She is the first cat I have ever had that no matter what shes doing, she doesn't use her claws. Instead she uses her teeth.

I don't really have advice for you about it since it doesn't really bother me. I hope the blanket idea works for you.
